Rumor has it that the pantsless look came about because someone in Prince's camp (a former manager or someone) commented before a performance that he didn't like the pants Prince had on. So Prince just took them off and did his show that way.

The white lace outfit pics reminded me of Madonna, "Like A Virgin". He needed a "girl toy" belt.

The bikini briefs era was his best. My only complaint is that the briefs weren't mesh so you could see through them. Other than that, it was great.
