A million days

Oh yeah, I want an appreciation thread too!

I just happened to have musicology in my car and for a week now when driving to work I have A million days on repeat. This is the Prince I dig. The lyrics, so sensitive, the heavy guitar somewhere between the middle and the end. And the way he sings it of course.

That a person can have a really good day just because of a song.. cloud9

It's only been a hour since U left me
But it feels like a million days
If Eye had a magic wand
Eye could turn back time
Eye'd never let U go away

Eye didn't have the heart 2 say eye'm sorry
Now eye haven't got a heart at all

Eye could tolerate the pain if eye could talk 2 my best friend
But U won't even call... U won't even call

Eye'm contemplating pulling out my suitcase
And packing everything eye own
Eye didn't back then, but eye do know now
Wherever U r is home

Eye'd crawl on my belly and beg U
But U're so far away
U've only been gone 4 an hour
But it seems like a million days

It's only been a hour since U left me
Eye wish eye had somebody 2 blame
But U're the perfect picture of what love should look like
And eye wanna b U're frame
It's only been a hour
But it feels like a million days

A million days
One hundred thousand million days

Come home, come home baby
Eye can't take this no more
Well, come home baby oh yeah
Baby, eye know eye shouldn't put my faith in heroes
But eye can't c U any other way
It's only been a hour since U left me girl
Feels like a million, feels like a million days

I agree completely, CJ.

When I first heard this song, I knew it had some sort of impact on me. At first, I wasn't sure if the impact was "good." The album just didn't sound like a Prince album to me, nor did it feel like one.

But the second time I listened, I heard this song again and I gotta tell ya, it took a little while for me to "get" it. I guess because it wasn't typically structured song. There weren't verses or a repeated chorus, very unusual. I came to realize that its very unique and when you really listen to it, so much just jumps out.

The music is very powerful and I feel like I had heard it somewhere before. The whole vibe of it. I knew he was influenced by one of the artists from the old school, but I had no idea which.

But the lyrics and his delivery of them really make it a personal track. It sounds like something I could actually picture Prince saying and experiencing. Whether or not it's true, I can't say for sure, but through it, I feel like its one of the closest things to "personal Prince" there are.

As for my favorite lyrics, I have a bunch. Pretty much everything after "I'm contemplating pulling out my suitcase..." and the line "ur the perfect picture of love should look like and I wanna be ur frame"... mushy
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I played this song like a million times.

I hate 2 say it, BUT... if this were released as a single, with radio play, it would have easily been number one.

Love this song! I especially love the way the music builds to a crescendo, right before and during the part where Prince sings: "1 hundred thousand, million days!" This is my favorite cut off "Musicology".
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Great to see appreciation for this song, it has always stuck out as one of my fav´s on musicology and as G say´s it would have been a sure fire hit if it had been released
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I loved the Musicology period, so any criticism would be minor here. But I think that A Million Days should have been the last single instead of Cinnamon Girl. It would have played on radio then. Give it a video with the right vibe and the song would have been a hit. Great song!

listen to this song, it is almost perfection, very catchy but beautiful, IMO only cinnamon girl is better, but that was after seeing the video wink

Great song. Best on the album. If musicology had more songs in this vein I'd prob. still play it.

One of my favorite songs on Musicology. It's a damn shame this song wasn't released as a single.
