In the 1700s people had to get their mail by horse drawn carraiges, now there's email. No need to wait. Same goes with videos and the "evil ol' interweb". I guess the idea of fans sharing released vidoes with other fans is such a foreign concept around here that its easy to believe that its an oddity but if you frequent other music sites, you'll see that its not. Not only that but many other artists actually don't mind, considering that most of them know that the more people that are exposed to them translates into more interest in said artist, which translates into back catalog and current release sales.
By hey, Prince doesn't like it so it must be "bad", right? People are gonna share, like it or not. Its not cutting into anyone's pockets. Music videos are promotional tools. | |

I feel bad when I read posts of others overseas who do not have access to BET and cannot watch the video. It's pretty ridiculous. What you speak of is quite normal among many artists who were big time in the 80's, heck even those in the 90's. Ofcourse I know he ain't the same in popularity and relevance today. Its just that I've been to almost six concerts in that past two years, and for someone who is deteriorating in relevancy he is still packing them in, we're talking both YOUNG and old. yes, it makes no sense on officially released music videos. Actually, that part is a mystery to me. but, has that affected his main money maker. oh no. people still come out to see him. maybe his record sales, but Prince doesn't seem to care about it that much because he hardly promoted his last two albums. with the current situation with the fansites, and his website remaining dark....it remains to be seen what will happen. | |

Dude speak for yourself. I don't want to listen to the lastest by Riahanna in my car on the way to school or work. None of us expects Prince to be on the charts I don't think Prince expects to be on the charts. This does not make him irrelvant since so many artist in RnB ride of off his coatails. In addtion, I don't remeber anyone other artist doing anything like "1999" or PR when they came out. You don't listen to Prince because he is doing what everybody is else is doing. You said P was not relevant. An artist that is not relevant is not doing anything at all their career is dead.
I was focusing on your comment. You do not have to care about what Prince wants because it is not your music. I know this is a news flash for you but you do not get to have say about it. The music does not belong to you. Do you really think that Prince is never going to have a site up again? He was one of the first artists to jump on the internet. I am sure he is going to put videos up on a new site when the next project comes down the road. In the meantime fans site are not going to be hot linking anything to Youtube and you need to realize that is just the way it is going to be. If this bothers you than move on. People on other fansites share released music videos all of the time, so instead of keeping your nose up Prince's ass and trying to justify every little thing he does, why don't you and your little co-signers step into the real world and comprehend technology a lil' bit? My complaint was simple - why can't people see it if they want to if they have the capabilities and are in a place online where "fans" congregate? | |

I can't really piece together a poem right now, but I must say that in this video, Prince was poetry in motion.
"I don't believe I had watched any of his videos so closely before, not where my eyes just follow his every move, observe every detail in his clothing and the depth of his eyes. I was listening to the song, but I could only pay attention to Prince. Every move he'd make rather than every note he'd sing. His movement was poetry in itself. Through the whole time, I could feel my heart pounding through my chest to the point I could almost hear it above the music. Even afterwards, my hands feel just a little sweaty and when I think about it, I feel my hands shake. My hands are still shaking, almost as if my mind believes I was in the same room with him. When I watched him, I couldn't look away. Every time he'd look at the camera with those eyes with so much depth, I felt myself captured in his gaze. Even now, I can recall every single feeling. I feel choked up inside because all I want to do is smile. Inside, I can feel like I'm smiling, but my mouth won't cooperate. A smile on my face wouldn't do justice to the way he made me feel."
