The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker Recently I was listening to a new verion of this song, which was the jazz remix version. I thought that this version was wonderful. To me I like the jazz version a little bit better than the original. It's a type of tune that you can relax to, or even something to drive around in the evening with your windows down to. It's a very nice tune. But what I would like to know is, was this version recorded live and when was it made. Also has it ever been officially released, and if not then what boot did this version appeard on? Thanks for your inpute.

I expect the version you're talking about is the one
recorded at a rehearsal for the 'Sign O The Times' tour in 1987. It hasn't been officially released, but has cropped up on a few bootlegs. It's a great jazzy version of the song that goes into part of Madhouse's track - 4 at the end.

If it was a live cut, perhaps it was his awesome performance of it on Jay Leno last year? "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. If we crave some cosmic purpose, then let us find ourselves a worthy goal" - Carl Sagan
