hmph! this is just another excuse you're using to diss Planet Earth

In fact, their chemistry is probably part of the reason why I fell in love with it on sight (so to speak). There was a certain magic about the album that I didn't see in the 2 that came before it... they could be part of that equation.

To me, it was more or less Prince being in a good place within himself to put the likes of "Somewhere here on Earth" and others.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

lisa only appears on one song. wendy plays guitar on five. no vocals. but with that being said, yeah...prince wasn't inspired hanging around him like he was in the past...

Fandor

I heard they collaborated via the internet, ie. email.

As a recording artist myself, I can vouch that collaborating in the same studio versus recording via correspondence in some fashion makes a big difference... still makes it sound like mostly a Prince project without them there alive in the same space.... the most impact they ever made was around the Parade era... which is always going to be the era I like best... just something magic about that time... they complimented him really well... balanced him out IMO in the way members of a real band do. Something honest and less affected which he either let go or it let go of him. Not to say that feeling didn't emerge in different ways later of course... but maybe less so and from this fan's perspective, 86 rocked it.

Completely agree.

My favorite Prince music is during the Revolution days...and I do think Wendy & Lisa had a hand in his sound back then (as did Sheila and Eric Leeds). Also W&Ls solo stuff is the only Prince associate's stuff that I dig in its own right. So I was very excited to hear that they were recording together again.

But I have to admit PE was a pretty big let down.

They didn't really collaborate did they - it was just a few tracks sent by email that they added instruments to. Not much of a chance for any magic to happen.
