Weaves were not even popular in 1984. In 1984 they had extensions and falls (Pieces of wig hair attached to a comb). And Prince used NEITHER of these items back in the early 80's. And why would he have to? Every other brother in the mid 80's had some sort of Jherri curl, or Prince style "Process", and this required you to grow your hair out long. This is just a dumb accusation. If he continued to let his hair grow from Dirty Mind to P.R. it would be the length it was in 84. Now as for the late 80's early 90's, (around Graffiti Bridge) it looks like he stole that weave right off Janet Jackson's head. The sad thing is on the cover of the "Thieves in the Temple" single you can even see one of the tracks hanging loosely out of place.

That's simply is not true. Hair extensions and hair pieces have been around since the 50's. It's not an issue of it being popular on the street. All types of things were available to people with money and or in the entertainment industry. In 84 and long before. And again, I'm not talking length. I'm talking texture. That simply is not P's grade of hair. If Prince grew his hair down to the middle of his back, it STILL wouldn't look like it did in 84. Processed or not. Example; Look at P's hair in the Rasberry Beret video. This is right after Purple Rain. THAT'S P's real hair. His hair is pressed straight, just like it was during Dirty Mind. Another example where P's own hair is longer. Look at the video "Alphabet St". That's P's real hair. Then look at when P went on tour for Lovesexy. Those are extensions. The texture of P's hair on tour is totally different than it is in the video. And it's a LOT longer. If u were to crimp P's hair in the Alpha St video, it simply would have not been long enough to look the way it did when he went a tour a mere 2 months later.

I love the heated debate over his yaki. lol

"HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT'S A WEAVE! PRINCE GOT INJUN IN HIS FAMBLY!"

The shit in PR looked like

I don't know what kind of magical perm and/or hair texture could stand up to his buckets of sweat and rubbing his head in Wendy's crotch and on her back.

Understand, it's NOT a debate to me. I'm just stating my opinion. I'm not trying to keep folks from believing whatever it is that they believe. Everyone has his or her thoughts. And that's cool. Personally, I dug P's hair during Controversy, 1999 and Purple Rain. As a kid, I used to wear my hair like that at times. If I had my hair braided at night, in the morning when I took it down, my hair would look similar to that. Same thing today. My hair is well past my shoulders and that's not with it pressed out. I've had cats in my bands that had hair pieces and extensions put in. I have my own hairdresser and I've worn the jheri curls when I was in my teens. Coming from a cat who has worn his hair long since I was a little kid and being very hip to how Prince looked during this period....I'm just giving my opinion.
