Prince Moving 2 Florida??? Seen On The Scene
A well-known singer may be your new neighbor, and he's not the only celeb making the move to Miami. Seven's Michael Cohen with details in today's Seen on the Scene. WSVN -- This summer it's going to be Purple Rain. Prince now wants to be the king of Miami. Real estate sources tell me the star is ready to move here sometime in July, and he's going to live like a king, in a $30 million, nine bedroom, five bathroom mega mansion on the upper exclusive Indian Creek Island. http://www1.wsvn.com/feat...ne/MI73377 [Props 2 Ananda2 From HQ.com 4 the Headz Up] ... Well, he'll be a bit warmer there
Wait a minute! I thought he was going to buy a house in London

Maybe he's retiring?
Seriously, though...who needs a $30 million home? No wonder the constant reports of financial difficulties in the 1990s. [Edited 1/14/08 15:44pm]

It's really not like me to respond to this type of story. Because I honestly believe that what Prince does is his business. Yet, this story hits home and i have to admit that i hope the hype is false.
True, there are some lovely people living there and people usually want to change basic things in their lives. But before he makes that kind of commitment i'd like to comment on what it's like living in South Florida... First of all it's HOT!! I'm speaking weather-wise and it's not about to cool off anytime soon. True, Prince can well afford to have all season temperature control but basically he'll be living in an air-conditioned house and going to an air-conditioned car and then onto air-conditioned buildings. Maybe he won't mind. And True, the sandy beaches and blue ocean are beautiful and warm fun to be surrounded by. But living there he'd have to limit his exposure to the sun, due to the risk of skin cancer and heat exhaustion. When going outdoors, all year long, he'd have to constantly protect himself from this abnormal heat. South Florida has one of the highest crime rates in the nation, and although he can afford the best body guards, his movement will be constantly under surveillance by crooks and scammers as well as the authorities. Florida is running out of water, fresh water that is. Lake Okeechobee water levels tied their all-time low ... the largest inland lake in Florida and in part due to this, Floridians are moving out in record number to the north. Northern states that are hit the hardest are Georgia and the Carolinas where these people moving north are called 'halfbacks.' In many case they are not being welcomed, in large part because these states are also in a drought and fear overpopulation. The reason they are called 'halfbacks' is because many moved south from the north, and now are finding this is not the modern day utopia the hoped to find. So they are moving 'half' way back to the north. In total contrast, some northern states such as Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes, still has pure and plentiful water (the new 'oil'). They also have a change of seasons, some of which you can actually enjoy in the outdoors. There isn't anyone who could make me want to live in Florida, visit, yes. But live each day there? No way!! It's definitely up to Prince what he does with his life and where he wants to live it, but i sure hope that he thinks this thru.

The REALtors want to sell at any cost so that they get their commission and i doubt they'll be talking about hurricanes.

I love Miami!
He could what I do whenever I'm down there. Go hang out on South Beach, & oggle at all the tanned female thong-clad behinds while pretending to study the Bible. It's perfect for Prince. [Edited 1/14/08 16:32pm]

That would be awesome if it meant more shows and such down here, more so in Broward, where it's less...um...congested. But really, can you trust anything from Channel 7 News? I take that station with a grain of salt. Kinda strange, kinda awesome.

I doubt he intends to make it a permanent home, so water restrictions won't be an issue. Security and privacy wise, he's chosen a good area. They go out of their way to keep stalkeratzis out. He's spent lots of time here in the past, (remember Glam Slam) so I'm sure he's familiar with the weather, hurricane season is June to Nov. I doubt he'll hang around for that. I can't ever remember hearing of him on any beach or even out and about before dark too often so the sun isn't an issue for him either. I believe he has thought it through...he can have a bit of peace and privacy here and still get his party on when he wants. It's more likely he will hang out for a few months like he did in Vegas and LA. Incidentally, the crime rate here is no worse than those cities. Hope he enjoys his stay. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

He might want to think twice about that considering this:
Miami Herald Wednesday night's bitter cold came like a giant Sominex for the tree-dwelling iguanas of South Florida.
When the temperature falls below a certain level, the large green lizards drop out of the trees and litter the ground. They aren't dead. At least a lot of them aren't. It is as if they are in suspended animation, said Robert Yero, park manager at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park on Key Biscayne. It was raining iguanas at Bill Baggs Thursday morning. There were a couple underneath buttonwood trees and a third beneath a sea grape. All were about 30 yards from the beach, in the coastal hammock. ''We have found dozens on the bike path after a major cold snap,'' said Yero. ``When they warm up in the sun, they come back to life.'' Yero isn't too fond of the comatose critters. They are exotics from Central and South America, brought in as pets and then released to the wilds by their owners when they got too big for the house. They munch on the foliage, literally nipping in the bud efforts to revive native vegetation. ''They really are taking over,'' Yero said.

Moving To Florida - Butthole Surfers
Well, well I been movin' down to Florida. And I'm gonna bowl me a perfect game. Well I'm gonna cut off my leg down in Florida, child. And I'm gonna dance one-legged off in the rain. Now, they say that Sidney Poitier was a blind man. And they say that LBJ was a Soviet Jew. When I go down Florida Way, They're ain't no kind of sexual healing that I would not, could not, should Not do, stick it right here. Well I been movin' down to Florida. I'm gonna potty train the chairman Mao. I'm gonna make the governor write my doodoo a letter, child. And I'm gonna grind me up a White Castle side out of India's sacred cow. Well, I been movin' down Florida Way, And I'm gonna build me the atomic bomb. Well, I'm gonna hold time hostage down in Florida, child. Ain't nobody, said ain't nobody gonna tell me what to do. Right here. By this time I guess you've figured out about Florida. Drink the muddy water in the Vaseline stain. They be makin' tadpoles the size of Americans down in Florida. That be tellin' Julio Iglesias what to sing, now. Now, whoever said that Sidney Poitier was a blind man, Knew the same of Elvis Presley, too. When I go down Florida Way, Ain't nobody, said ain't nobody gonna tell me what to do. Right here. Well I been goin' down to Florida. Pole cats lie naked in the Seminole sin. When I go down Florida Way, Like Vince, I wanna' win. Well I went down to Florida. I got away. I took the children down to Florida. I stuck the dick down the drain. Get that boy down to Florida. Give him a switch blade. Tell him what to do. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
