Prince guitar & song in the Colbert Report.

Check it out:

http://www.comedycentral....ndex.jhtml

Go to the “New Videos,” scroll down. It's in “National Treasure Part 1"

(Hope Comedy Central got permission from you-know-who to make a video with Prince music playing in the background or Websheriff might be writing them a letter. rolleyes wink )

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

This was HILARIOUS! I was surprised he stopped at the guitar and when Colbert was asked if he wanted to hear a sample of Prince's music I was expecting one of those cheapshot-type Prince jokes...

BUT NO! Stephen gets down and does When Doves Cry, tracing the tear down his cheek and all. It was priceless. Colbert is clearly a fan.

And then I immediately thought "Uh oh, I hope Prince doesn't try to sue Colbert and Viacom now too"... But Prince will let it fly- either because he appreciates the random nod and the "in better taste than usual" comedy, or because he should know better than to get Stephen Colbert going on a crusade.

But then again... if that crusade ends (after giving it some time to build up, of course) with Prince giving into appearing on the Colbert Report (and he could hold his own), in person (not via satellite- it makes interviews feel disjointed).... Prince would get that Colbert Bump. I doubt anything will come of it, but take note: this is just the sort of happy accident that could mean some album and ticket sales.

The fact that he knew all the words (To a song that was #1 for 8 weeks and on one of the best-selling albums ever)had me on the floor!!!

My favorite part was the David Gregory spin!!!

Avoided this until I saw the whole show as I tape the Daily Show n Colbert Report n watch it when I have time.

Very cool.

Viacom will just have 2 pay a fee 4 using the song is all, only one fee 4 the initial airing, not it being on the web. Viacom was one of the 1st 2 sue youtube.
