How would you like Prince to change musically or otherwise?

Musically... what is it you would like more / less of.

In other aspects... what would you like / dislike?

Musically....More raw funk/rock, whatever you want to call it that inspired generations.

other aspects... that is up to him, it is none of my business.
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

"True to his status as the last enigma in music, Prince crashed into London this week in a ball of confusion" The Times 2014

more guitar and vocals from Prince less frills
"C'mon y'all - let me hear you sing, c'mon y'all, shake, c'mon y'all, jump" - Yes Prince -
"London do you feel for me what I feel for you"- yes Prince -
"Can I play my guitar now?" - yes please

Musically, more raw, more experimental

I cant accept that such a talented musician like Prince still does some very flat songs.

I am not a big fan of Lovesexy era, but I was listening to some live stuff from that tour, and even the horn arrangements were multi-layered, fresh, unique. Prince is being too retro lately or too much influenced by the Beyonces. It would be cool if he did more stuff in the vein of ´PFunk´, for example.

It's not what we would like him to change, but let us work on what we need to change in our lives today.

it would be great chalenge if prince explores ethno world music.
imagine what would it sound in combination with his funk sound.
we had hints of that in the around a world album but prince never did world music

i love it all the good the bad and the ugly and i dont just mean his costumes!!!

its been a journey alright

sometimes i think if only you had a producer that would cut the chaff but then the poor stuff highlights the really very talented stuff, as a foil, so we get it all, everything he can produce like an artist - he likes it so go spin if we dont.

i mean a poet doesnt write to please a crowd or an artist paint on demand - well if they do they become commercial which prince still aint. hes tried bless im.

so i say bring it all on, hes a very talented creature who should be allowed to continue to experiment and sometimes get it wrong as the org proves for every one of us who hates a particular song theres someone who loves it!!

hurrah!!! lets all hug biggrin

There was a time when Prince was grounbreaking for the music he made and rightly earned the title genis.

Now he seems to be more interested in just walking new ground no matter what is..idrefer he got back to bing groundbreaking for musical reasons instead of being the first artist to try and sue his fans or the first artist to give away an album with a newspaper.

He can just go on big brother if he wants to be in the news

I wish he'd do (or did) more press, and that he wasn't so protective over his art. Also, he's a bit eccentric for my tastes, but that's a personal thing so I don't really care.
Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

i think its expected now to become eccentric afterall if youve done as you please for most of your life including creatively and everyone adores you whose to pu him back to earth, who grounds him where is his family?

he must be surrounded by 'yes' men like jacko was.

i just hope hes not going down that route!!

I wouldn't change anything about Prince musically or otherwise. Prince is who he is, and his music reflects his journey and it's an interesting journey to watch and experience, otherwise none of us would be here.

Thanks for your responses..

I started this thread basically because I felt there are alot of unhappy Prince fans here. Unhappy for whatever reason, not that Prince is going to change for anyone wink , but just so we can discuss what it is about him or his music that makes you unhappy. I do respect his freedom of artistic expression by the way.

peace

Can I choose an "otherwise" change?
Okay, for Christ's sake, he needs to stop censoring his old music. I don't care if he never says titty on record again. No-one wants to hear "Puppy control", though. disbelief

I wouldn't say I'd like him to "change musically or otherwise." That can be interpreted as a bit drastic and even impossible, or imply that I'm not satisfied with his music or otherwise.
I'm loving the journey he's on. Some projects are better than others, but that's normal.
It would be fun to see him to do this thing or that thing next, yes. But that's different from saying I want him to change.
A side project (Internet-only release) delving into some traditional Afrikan music would be lights out for me. I'd love that.
But change? Nah. I'm good, thanks.

I appreciae what he is today because I believe it represents the culmination of the journey he's taken in his life. I also think because of his longevity that he is the best judge of where to go from here. As one Orger noted, he should be allowed to make mistakes too...and not get stomped on because of it.

I remember in the 80's, when Prince was very very famous, not that he isn't now, many of my friends just saw him as a mainstream pop artist. I wanted them to know that Prince was more than what you saw and heard on the radio, and tried to share bootlegs with as many as possible so they could hear him play raw guitar in smaller settings.

Today, though, I think that Prince has proved to many that he's beyond the hype and is an excellent musician.

I wouldn't want him to change, but if I would like him 'to do' anything, I think he should be bold and allow some1 to produce him from beginning to end of a cd. He should trust some1 to do this. It could bring out something amazing, if though it might sound like the anti-Christ to him.
