I swear to GAWD, in it's short 41 minutes or so, it rocks, it thumps, it croons, it gets psychedelic, and then it bitch slaps me with originality. Like John Holmes or Chad Hunt's porn star penis, this album is one of a kind. There isn't anything out there on the market, before or since, by Prince, or anyone else for that matter, that puts all these elements together so seemlessly and in such a delightfully imperfect yet quirky manner. I've heard critics call it a "near miss" of a gem, and I'm inclined to agree--but I think this is why I love the album so much. It's truly Prince at the peak of his beetle-esque era. Dream factory - before it got ripped apart and made into SOTT also has alot of the feel of Parade. As good as SOTT is, it is a shame that the Dream factory got scrapped. Life's a Parade! LoveLife, LoveSexy! | |
