Prince and Frank Zappa similarities (please excuse previous bad title choice of words)

Prince and Frank Zappa are so much alike not only in their music, but their work ethic and eccentric personalities. Both are known to be assholes who put out some of the most interesting music ever.

Why do people always have to compare Prince with other artist?

i think someone started a thread like this not too long ago. i'm not too familiar with zappa to compare. some old guy was playing his album loud in his car when i was at the beach one time (i think it was over-nite sensation) and it was kinda wacky. i got a kick out of a few tracks. dinah-moe humm and some others were kind of cool .

I guess I see alot of similarities in they way they both weren't afraid to do play whatever kinds of music they wanted. They don't care about making 'hits". They're both wicked guitar players. They are constantly switching bands and run their bands like the military. check this out http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related

here's a song Frank may have wrote about Prince. http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related

Frank gets funky. Listen to what Frank says about Warner Brothers at 3:40 in the video http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related

I say that in jest. Prince is one of my favorite musicians. You still have to admit, he's acted pretty gay at times.

Frank Zappa was a musical genius. He made tons of music in his life, some of which I was able to maintain in my collection over the years. My favorite cut would be "Watermelons in Easter Hay", although "Lucille" with Ike Willis on vocals would be a close second. A Zappa/Prince collaboration would have been awesome! As it is, my dream band would be as follows:

star Prince: Guitar & Lead Vocals
star Frank Zappa: Lead Guitar & post production
    star Michael Hampton: Rhythm Guitar
    star Bootsy Collins: Bass Guitar
    star Stevie Wonder: Keyboards/Synths
star Larry Blackmon: Drums & post production
    star Martha Wash: Background Vocals
    star Tomi Jenkins: Background Vocals
star Earth, Wind & Fire: Horn Section
    star Love Unlimited Orchestra: Strings
    star George Clinton: Producer
star Debbie Allen: Choreography (featuring the Brotha's & Sista's from Around The Way dancers)

I'd pay to see that lineup.
