I think he's right about the whole CD give away thing that they did at the Musicolgy concerts. That was kinda sneaky. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I know Kevin Smith ruffles some Prince fans' feathers (as he apparently does Prince's ).
But, I love how KS shows how the offstage Prince can be. The control-freak side of him that seems to persist is, upon reflection, quite funny. KS gets this and delivers it hilariously. Over and over again.

I think it's a great strategy in getting your music sold. So I actually like the model of doing that (so long as the CD is optional). I think The Cure was going to try and use that model. but as far as it counting against billboard, a mandatory CD, based on a concert ticket sell, to me, shouldn't count--there's nothing that shows actual intent to purchase the CD on the buyers part. You can't tell if they want the CD or just the concert ticket. So, to me, it shouldln't count towards billboard sales.

its not sneaky, its genious It made it seem that Prince would've not had sold that many records if he wouldn't of done that. Some people think I'm kinda cute

"What kind of fuck ending is that?"

that's all well and good, ( i love them both ), but if Smith really wanted to make the UTCM comment stick, he'd have to take it on the chin about his own last musical effort. Oh wait, that's right, he doesn't have one.
Point being you can't really diss someone for taking a chance outside of your comfort zone. Risk is everyting in art, and while I love what Smith does, you can't really say he's ventured outside of his little world much.

Kevin Smith is a Prince fan from way back. He asked Prince for permission to use a song in Jay and Silent Bob Strike back, but Prince declined. He did allow Kevin to use the Time music however.
Kevin was at the live Rave into the year 2000 concert. He wrote about it on his website. Please don't hate KEvin for telling it like he his. His "An evening with " dvd's are hilarious.
