Prince in my infinite wisdom is the best of all time at being a jack of all trades,master of none. How can I say this?

Allow me to elaborate:

He is not the best at anything he does!

for example: He is not the best songwriter
(stevie wonder)
He is not the best gutar player
(Hendrix,vai,etc.....)
He is not the best singer
(Luther,Marvin Gaye,R kelly)
He is not the best dancer
(michael,hammer,usher)
He is not the best producer
(jam&lewis,Quincy jones,Dr Dre,Pharell)
He is not the most attractive
(Me,Jesse Johnson,lenny Kravitz)

so explain to me how people on here to be THE best....to me he is the best at being good at all these...but not the best!

I agree about the jack of all trades comment, but I don't really understand what your point is. I am like Prince that way, but I personally don't want to be remembered for being the best at ANYTHING. I am not sure Prince ever wanted this, either - maybe we put him on that pedestal?

I went to wikipedia just now, and learned the following:

...The full phrase is "Jack of all trades, master of none, though ofttimes better than master of one."

This definitely puts things in a different light, yes?

Furthermore, this begs the question: what does it really mean to be considered "the best". In other words, does being the best at something really serve the advancement of the human race, or is it more likely to serve the individual ego that thinks they are the best or the people who call someone or something the best? Get it? The fact that you can even consider his appeal on all these levels is what makes him great, whether he is better or worse than all these other greats. Enjoy! We sure have over the years!

i agree with you, though he might not . but, the fact that he's so good at so many different things (some which u mentioned) make up his genius.

stage production, arrangements, song writing, musicianship, etc.

I've had people ask me, "what is so great about Prince"? Then I kinda break it all down like you just did, and if they are interested, I prove it to them. Most people are stupified, usually replying somewhere along the lines, "I thought he was like Michael Jackson".
