man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

The album is brilliant.

It needs a love thread (there's already a couple of hate threads going around).

It flows so well, each track to the next.

And I love all of the songs for different reasons.

What's really impressive is that it has a storyline that runs through it that takes up nearly all of the songs.
All about finding his future soulmate:
Somewhere Here on Earth thru All the Midnights... and Lion of Judah ends it, but suggests that its incomplete, a cliff-hanger. Prince doesn't know what'll happen next. And the first and last tracks sum everything up.

It's in my top 6 albums, not the greatest he's ever done, but one of them.

And it's an interesting genre. I like to call it "Contemporary R&B"

Here's how I rank the songs from my favorites to least favorites.

1. Mr. Goodnight
2. Somewhere here on Earth
3. Future Baby Mama
4. Lion of Judah
5. The One u Wanna c
6. Planet Earth
7. All the Midnights
8. Guitar
9. Chelsea Rodgers
10. Resolution

But it's a pretty tight race for the first 5... love 'em all for different reasons.

In fact, 4 of these songs are perfect for a mix of Prince songs I've been contempleting for months now. cool

Sorry, but "UGHHH!!!!" eek I had to get that out of my system. Not only did you pick the corniest, most whackest song next to Frutcha Babeh Momma and Chelsea Rodgers, but you actually like this album. I don't know which is more disturbing. But, more power to ya, I say. biggrin

I think PE is average at best. It's far from my favourite.

haha... okay, this is the first time I'm going 2b doing this.
I'm going to reveal my top 6 albums [which Planet Earth is one of them].

Currently:

1. Purple Rain
2. Parade
3. 1999
4. Come
[tie] 5. The Gold Experience/Planet Earth

I say: Bring on the backlash!

Keep in mind, though, haha... my favorite prince song ever is on The Gold Experience.

These are very loose rankings. I can only do a top 6 because they shift all the time, depending on what I'm listening to. Parade ranks so high cuz I've been listening to it lately and I'm very into it dancing jig
But Purple Rain is just special, I tell ya cool

Planet Earth, I wouldn't say the best... but in my book, its one of the best.
