would u like to see the prince online musicstore return?

question

i know i would. much bombarded and lamented as the content of the npgmc
and his later online store was by some, i would still like to see it be
reinstalled in the future.

for an artist like prince, with his ideas about music and distribution,
an online store on his own website just makes a lot of sense. he had a
few trial runs and i think now it's time to set the shop up once again
and make it something really beautiful.

there's such a wealth of material he could put up for sale on there and
i'm not talking his 79-90 outtake material because let's face it he has
made it quite clear that he had little interest in releasing that stuff
to the market for whatever reasons.

but there's so much more beyond that, least of all newly recorded songs
that won't feature on an album. or what about some of those shows that,
a while ago, we were reading about on 3121? the house party shows they
were throwing where people like joni mitchell and stevie wonder were in
attendance and sometimes even sat in on the stage.

or some aftershows, which seem to have become more and more incredible
over the recent years with wild totally loose guitar throwdown madness
and all.

i still enjoy online-only releases like Xpectation and C-Note and even
albums like Chocolate Invasion on a regular basis. and would not mind
one bit to add some more releases like those to my collection.

if the dude reads this site, or has people watching the current, let's
give him a shout out and tell him we're ready for the npgmc vers 3.0!!

I don't think there is an orger on this site that wouldn't love to see an online music store for Prince, with a great deal of unreleased vault material made available.

At this point, I'd be happy to get 10 remixes of Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic, so long as it's something I haven't heard before. lol

I would like to see unreleased stuff sold on the internet but not by downloads. That downloading shit requires a high speed internet service that is too expensive for us broke whores. It also requires a computer that has a CD burner, which I don't have. And no, it's not easy to just "go out and buy one". Not everyone has "a mommy and daddy to buy it for us".

Prince needs to sell the unreleased stuff on CD and ship it out. Come to think of it, he should have a toll free telephone number for the people who can't afford a computer in the first place.

I like to own something that is professionally mixed and burned, I wish Prince would have more available for the public at the stores.

Sure. I would think the library would have selections not found anywhere else. For this reason alone it would be great!

Not only should he bring back the online store for merchandise and new music, he should make available the live recordings of his shows. With all the unofficial live bootlegs out there (which I'm sure nobody here would have anything to do with), wouldn't it make sense for him to get involved with that market, given that he still excels as a live performer and appears to be making the majority of his money from it.

As has probably been mentioned elsewhere on these forums, Metallica make available live performances a few days after a gig. If Prince made available, for example, all 21 nights of the O2 concerts as well as the aftershows (all of which he probably has recorded) as downloads I'm sure his website would get alot more hits and if there were other merchandise/music available I'm sure there would be crossover sales.

Personally, I would probably buy all the O2 shows that I attended at least. But all of this seems pretty obvious to me, so it'll probably never happen. Along with the DVD of the O2 shows, which would seem a blatently obvious move but for which I will not be holding my breath.

As a fan of music and Prince yes. But as a practical matter, NO. Why?

Because everytime he's done that there has been some issue with the download quality or the shipping methods or price of the music per song or price of shipping cd's overseas, or the delivery of said product, etc. Then add to the fact that fans that are disgruntled or just plain cheap throw the shit up on the net for free just to get back at P; then get mad when they get sued.
