His most impressive guitar solos

One of the things Prince is best known for is being a brilliant guitar player. When he goes into one of his lengthy solos in his live performances, he leaves nothing to chance. He plays like there's no tomorrow and what comes out sounds like he's making the guitar sing, but without words. But while he does so, he moves his lips, as if trying to speak the words his guitar plays.

So my question is, either in video or on album, what are some of your favorite guitar solos by Prince?

Mine are these:
Purple Rain (need I say more?)
Gold (so alive, seems to mark a new beginning and a newly reached enlightenment)
Planet Earth (alive and very powerful)
Shh (album version)-- this is where his guitar says the words he's unable to speak verbally and takes on a life all its own.

But I think one of the ultimate guitar solos is "Shh" live in Hong Kong. For far too many reasons to name.

Any thoughts?

Today, I just love his guitar solo on 2004 HOF Induction.

I'd like to hear more about why those solos are the most impressive, haha.

Dolphin & eye Hate U r 2 more really good ones.

In Dolphin, he takes his guitar and channels all the anger and sadness and turns it into the silver lining of the whole thing. He finds the bright side and goes with it.

In eye Hate U, he takes his anger and bitterness, channels it and shows that the expression has made him stronger than he was before.

I'm not a big fan of guitar solos, but Purple Rain works for me. There are prolly other Prince guitar solos that I dig, but I can't think of any at this point.

You know, I'd really love to see more of him playing bass (live). Read a couple of those setlists posted on another thread and they mentioned Prince doing an 'extended bass solo'. Man, I would've loved to see that
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Now that you've said it, I'd be interested seeing in that too hmmm

I think the only time I ever saw him play bass was @ the NAACP awards last year with Morris Day and Sheila E. And that was only the one time. So I can't remember.
I'd like to see him do some piano live as well with songs he's written like "The Beautiful Ones,' "Condition of the Heart," and "Somewhere here on Earth."

But now we're getting off topic giggle

On first thought:

Why you wanna treat me so bad: not original (a typical AOR-like solo) but perfectly executed.

Purple Rain: benefits from being recorded during a live-performance.

Temptation: nasty, dirty and in your face, maybe his best solo recorded in a studio-environment

Joy in repitition: i think he is still searching for the 'perfect' guitarsolo for this song (on the GB-album it is mixed in a poorly way)

Gold: alltough the song is patchy and polished, the solo itself is expressing liberation, a break trough

The Ride: a device for improvisation

Now that's what I'm talking about, haha... nobody else has said anything quite like this yet.

He uses the guitar to express what his voice cannot. He channels his emotions thru his guitar and that song's a classic example of that. He battles his anger and bitterness in the guitar strings he plays and the conflict is started and resolved within notes.

i think that every Loving person has their one and only TRUELOVE and the way i interpreted it was that the word "SHH" is Prince's TRUELOVE talking to him and the guitar music is Prince and his TRUELOVE in expression of music. Thats all. smile(corrected for spelling)
