Both! He had so many creative prodjects and around alot of talented people...wouldn't you just love to be an artist around then and work on something fantastic with him and the PP family? Like that movie the Hard Life! Oooh I love it! He was so adventorus and open then. cool Prince=cool in the late eighties.

To me the BEST time for Prince was from 1980 through 1989...
Anyway, the SOTT shows... simply amazing. The DVD doesn't capture half of the actual event. That Lovesexy recording does a better job at that, but than this was not re-recorded in Paisly Park and is the real life event smile

Don't know about a dvd... a video was released of the concert in Dortmund, Germany of september 9, 1988. That show was broadcasted in tv in Europe as well.

Nah...
It was great and everything but the absolute buzz from him in 94/95 was palpable on a daily basis. He was ON FIRE and I won't hear anyone who doesn't recognise the greatness of his work during that period.

I'm not disagreeing about 86-87 though. At that point, I had people around me converting into Prince maniacs having been unconvinced previously. The SOTT movie-premiere I went to was scary and the first time I ever was in proper surround sound theatre. Went three more times with the converts as they appeared.

To summon up this ghost today n the UK is a masterstroke.
Even if he does retire now, he'll have played it for KEEPS with the UK population. Haven't heard a bad word said about Prince by anybody in months except of course on his fan-sites (the shame, the shame) and..erm...my dad.

Run out into the street and scream!
Someone will probably ask you what's wrong, then explain yourself and they'll probably say 'It's okay. My aunt Doris will have one for you'.
Then go on a ten mile journey to Aunty Doris' house, where you'll find her tryig to emulate Prince's 'Hot Thing' routine, have her committed to a nursing home and the DVD is yours.

No need to panic!

i hope this is not how my nephews and nieces see me (having taken them all plus friends to see Prince in a private suite) - now just going to have another go at the "hot thang" routine in private

A majority of the soundtrack is a live recording - most of the visual aspect was re-shot at Paisley Park because of disappointing quality footage from the actual shows. Nothing wrong with that really is there?

I mean, its not like he's performing to the studio versions and, clearly, he is capable of doing what you hear live, so it doesn't really matter how the end product was assembled. He could have just shelved the project after the filming of the concerts didn't work but, thankfully, he didn't biggrin
