great thread - cannot see how Prince can edit and/or eradicate bits of his past he now doesn't like or approve of - he is 2 enmeshed in 2 many people's heads as well as popular culture - have to feel for him - I have certainly edited bits of my past and would probably be mortified if it was in the public domain.
"C'mon y'all - let me hear you sing, c'mon y'all, shake, c'mon y'all, jump" - Yes Prince -
"London do you feel for me what I feel for you"- yes Prince -
"Can I play my guitar now?" - yes please

In Zadie Smith's book, White Teeth, there is a scene where one family has to leave their house in an emergency. The father tells his wife & son to pack up "essential, life-or-death things" and the son brings his betamax copy of Purple Rain. (That, unfortunately, was the best part of the book---it sucked otherwise.)

In The Breakfast Club, Ally Sheedy's character is studying 1999:

Ok I found this on wikipedia-there are loads of refs to Prince in popular culture crazy!

According to recent census data he ranks as the third shortest adult male in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.

Get the hell outta here with this. They don't ask your height on the census. lol

Ally Sheedy also wears a Purple Rain tshirt throughout a good portion of the film Maid to Order.

I don't know if this counts but Missy Elliott was wearing a very cool t-shirt with Prince's face sprayed onto it during her interview for this year's Hip Hop Honours on MTV.
I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

C'mon and dance while you, while you still have your cherry babe, cherry babe..
