Again, I think it boils down to Susannah got the most "hype" as P's true love. P wasn't "too" in love with her, being that he never stopped seeing other women. The same goes for Vanity. P might have been the most settled and the most faithful when he was with Mayte. With P, it's always been about image. Vanity was perfect for P's image during 81-83 because it quelled many rumors about P being gay. That was the main reason P had Vanity with him on the cover of Rolling Stone. Again, with Susannah, he knew it looked cool cuz Wendy was so prominently featured in his band and to be dating her identical twin sister....Sure, Susan Rogers hypes Susannah as P's true love because she likes Susannah. P writes songs about a lot of women that he has dated. All songwriters do. Doesn't mean one is more special than another. I think Vanity had the most impact on P's state of mind as an "artist". She came into P's life at a crucial stage in his career. A turning point. They were really close. Mirroed images of each other. Even the way Vanity acted when she was in Vanity6. Many thought she was just like P. Maybe it was the other way around? While P was really coming into his own, making his most memorable music, Vanity was there. P whad already turned the corner, career wise, when Susannah came into the picture. P was about to be a bonafide superstar with Purple Rain. U think he was going to give up access to all of the women he was going to have from his superstardom for one woman?....No. P, as close as he was to Vanity, STILL dogged her out with other women.
