It's all about the music, baby!!!

It's about the high I feel when I listen to "Let's Go Crazy", or "It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night"
and the peace I feel when I spin my Graffiti Bridge or Emancipation CD's, and hear "Elephants and Flowers", or "The Love We Make"

It's pointless to try and "deify" anyone.....

However, what I have noticed is that people who really like Prince, tend to be very unique, in a creative kind of way. Many of us are musicians, or singers, or express who we really are through some other type of art. Other people seem to perceive our personalities as avant garde, unorthodox, and "strange or "weird". People seem to always want our "energy".

Many of us are just visionary and quite frankly- ahead of our time. This blows people's circuits, and they just don't know how to process it....

These are just MY thoughts.....

Agreed, I hate throwing together a collective group of people who like the same artist, go to the same church, whatever, and refer to them as a "cult".

Just wondering what your thoughts are on this, since this is a remark a cousin of mine made some time ago. Now, I certainly don't think that Prince fans are part of a cult (since I HATE stereotyping), but perhaps to an outsider, who is not into Prince's music, we are. What are your thoughts on this?

Look around!

No! Prince fans are not a cult! Other people (non fans) just seem to think of a cult when it comes to Prince because they are blown away by the huge number of passionately devoted people that go to great lengths both physically and financially to witness his performances!!

The level of devotion is astounding...many a Prince fan has expressed that they are hopelessly in love with him, many call him names, express their disappointment in him, or even say his music has turned to crap! But....if they her a non-fan say something like that about him....LOOK OUT!!...it's just not allowed! The possessiveness is almost delightfuly cute!

Yup! I can see where "outsiders" might think that we are a cult!! But I bet there are many, many musicians and performers who would practically kill to have the passion and devotion that P gets from his fans!

Who knows...maybe it's why Prince seems to try and turn us off at times by disallowing pictures and videos! wink
He gets it! That's why the ladies love him...batting eyes

Send me $150.00 and I'll tell you where to meet some people who will want you to sell all your stuff and join them but make sure you have a bucket of squirrel meat. lol

on a lighter note The org is the only place that plays both sides just looki in the concert section and you you will see peeps saying its the best concert and others saying its the worst concert they have ever been to, if the .org was a cult we would all be bowing down and praiseing Prince and all his work.

'88

i really got into Prince in the mid-80's. i bought a 2nd hand copy of purple rain when i was in 5th grade, and a Parade cassette in 86. after Parade i was hooked, and was amazed when i found out in 88 that there were other freaks actually collecting Prince concerts and rare cuts.

previously, most of that was only known to me about deadheads, such interest and commitment also wink

I don't believe so,
but just in case....

Let me say for the record,
that
despite my virginal sensibilities,
I, in fact, am not a virgin.
I did get laid once.

So please....
avert your direction away from my vicinity when the time comes to detemine a candidate that might encompass the purposes & qualities required of any form of sacrifical fodder.

Thank you.

I've been told that a time or two in my life.
Last week as a matter of fact.
I wasn't even talking Prince, just so happens a song of his comes on the radio and she asked, "So you go to your Prince parties once a month? That's a cult!"
I attend the one in Chicago, but not every month, most months. lol
