Anyone loves or dislikes 3121 the perfume?

sad I apologize for excluding anyone under and over thirty years old with the intial wording I used in this thread. Everyone's opinion adds something important to this thread about Prince's perfume.
Everyone's comments are welcome.

So why not have a discussion about what you all love and/or dislike about 3121 the fragance?

So far, I don't like that it opens very strongly, and that its many scents are confusing to me.
I like the choice of colors for the bottle and box, and the choice of including the feminine and masculine in one fragance.

biggrin I'm definitely 30 something and I love the fragrance! Because it's an "eau de parfum" it's very concentrated so you don't need to spray on very much. I really appreciate the way it changes as it settles, and it lasts a very long time.

Everyone is different...meaning the scent will be a little different on each person due to the chemistry in your skin blending with the chemistry in the fragrance. I find it blends very nicely on my skin, and people have told me how good I smell... biggrin

What does being 30-something have to do with liking a perfume? confused

I am a thirty-something. I am concerned about not smelling like I borrowed my grandma's perfume. As I said at the beginning of of my thread, "Some people have said that gardenia predominates and it's seems more appropriate for mature women."

nod I am having a hard time deciding if I like it. Because of my allergies, I lose my sense of smell every now and then.

I am still undecided whether I like it or not. It's a quite strong fragance. Some people said that the perfume is geared for mature women due to the predominace of the gardenia. Do you agree with this opinion? Did Prince's 3121 perfume live up to its advertising( Xotic, Xquisite, etc.)?

Hey lady wave

It's okay...I wear it once in awhile but it isn't one of my favorites. The first whiff is very pungent and I was like....P...U! lol but after about 20 mins it mellows into something more pleasant. I agree that it has that heavy, mature woman smell though.

I like the creme a bit better.

If you like it, who gives a rat's ass what anyone else thinks? If you're in your 30s, you should've developed your own taste and style by now. (Face it, honey -- you aren't that far from being old enough to actually be a grandma.)

And it isn't gardenia. 3121 mellows to a musk/sandalwood thing.

I'm finding that maybe a lot of people are mistaking the gardenia/cedar/sandalwood for a "grandma scent", but what my senses are picking up is what's under that...at one point during the perfumes "settling" it has almost an "aroma therapy" sort of quality to it, and not the relaxing kind either! It's more of a sexual stimulant. I have heard people say that this fragrance literally turns them on, or makes them "horny" so to speak! I have to admit that after wearing it for a while now it's had a similar effect on me!! eek

So is it Gardenia or animal musk? Is it like musk from an animal pelt or grandma's funeral flowers?

If you don't know the difference between gardenia (a flower) and musk (an animal scent), heaven help you! lol

I'm thirty something and I love gardenia, which is a little unusual, because when people say "gardenia is for mature women" they generally mean people in their 60s. wink

3121 gives me a headache. It's way too heavy of a scent and while it may have a hint of gardenia, I would not categorize it as smelling like gardenia. It starts out really heavy and then changes into something musky that reminds me of men's cologne. confused And the headache doesn't really appeal to me either. The first time I thought maybe I just put too much on, so the next day I sprayed once in the air and then walked through the fragrance. Nope--still got a headache. lol

I figured it wouldn't really be my kind of scent when I read the description, but because I'm a "devoted puppy" I had to buy it for my Prince collection. lol At least I bought the small bottle on 7/7/07 so a tiny portion of proceeds went to charity.

My favorite perfume is Vera Wang's Princess. When I bought Prince's 3121, I expected it to smell somewhat similarly. I am disappointed.
I don't get a headache,but I do get a bit nauseous.
