I Wonder if He Was Serious When He Said This.

I heard "Prince" once say that the first song of which he had learned on the guitar, was "Proud Mary". I also heard that the first song of which he had learned on the piano was "Batman". How true do you think this is? I mean, I'm sure he wouldn't have any reason to lie, but we all know how the guy is (i.e. "The Interview During the transition Era Where He Was Asked About Racial Barriers and Said The He Didn't Believe in the Ethnic Race, Only Human")

It is true the 1st song he played/learned on piano was the theme to the 1960's TV series Batman. In fact Prince mentioned it in his '96 interview with Oprah and even played a portion of it for her.

As for "Proud Mary" on guitar, I'm not sure.

Damnit! Is it true that "EVERYONE" sympathizes for me or what? I'm not stupid! More like just inquiring. I'm a damn near adult man! Now, surely my maturity can be felt and we can have a decent, well-thought-out, mature conversation. Oh, and please don't take it for me being snobby. I'm just careful of other's underestimated impressions.

Ma'am, I am the nicest person you will ever meet. The content of my post was not to be blunt or blatant, at all. I guess I was just a little bit "TOO" on defensive side, there. I apologize, especially to a person like you who can be as sweet as pie and forgive such misleading context. Forgive me.

Well...that would depend on when he heard Smoke On the Water for the first time -- and when he picked up the guitar for the first time. It was on Deep Purple's "Machine Head," which was released early in 1972 (when Prince was 13)...but didn't drop as a single until a year later. It charted in the summer of '73 -- when Prince was 15.

I've heard that Prince started playing guitar at 14...

I heard he picked up the guitar and immediately launched into Endorphinmachine. Yes, that's right, that song is actually from 1966...
