Hopefully it will end up at the dollar store where it belongs and I get a whole set of coasters. So the sales will go up he should buy all there is and just throw them into the audience on the recent tour. ---------------------------------

with the bob george narration i can't throw the cd far enough.. without, it's a worthy addition to the collection.As far as Rave the remix addition plays much better as most club members will attest. His promotion sucked big time. release a video like tgres 2mos before the albums out, do an appearance on the lowest rated morning show ie. bryant gumbles sorry shite, then rush off to europe to do a slew of tv appearances. He's burned so many bridges here i think he's scared to try & promote here in the US. waddaya'll think? |

I think it's decidedly odd & more than a little ironic that an album, which closes with an unifying sentiment exhorting us 2 "come 2gether as 1", should b the root of so much division amongst the diehard support. And it's not just the lyrics/narrator either, is it? There really r a substancial no. of u out there expressing ur heartfelt opinion that musically TRC is piss-poor. 
It's not even as if it represents a radical departure 4 him. "1+1+1=3" is reminiscent of "Erotic City", the sweet "She Loves Me 4 Me" stylistically seems 2 echo songs like "Dinner with Delores" & "She Spoke 2 Me","The Work" is another JB pastiche,"Family Name" harks back 2 sly("Asphalt Jungle") & the last 2 tracks evoke memories of the closing "Purple Rain" 1/2 (ie."Baby,i'm a Star/Purple Rain"). Ok, so there's a fair chunk of jazz-inflected music but that's hardly new 4 Prince either. Neither 4 that matter is the overtly spiritual theme of the album(Lovesexy ring any bells?). It's about economics:
As long as people like AOL insist on making every person on the planet possess at least 5 copies of the AOL CD at any given moment, using cunning techniques such as putting in with your breakfast cereal, breaking into your house and leaving it under your pillow, and including it free with anything you can buy, anywhere... there will always be a cheaper option. Using TRC as a coaster would be a bad deal - TRC is not a cheap CD, so there are better and far more economical ways for you to protect your furniture from your hot beverages. Anyway I CAN see the future, and I see your offspring having more taste in music than you. So hang on to your copy of TRC a bit longer, eventually some of you haters will appreciate it  | |

TRC might be flawed but it still manages to move me, to amaze me with so many moments of absolute beauty.
There is a lot of talent displayed on this album and I am glad I am able to appreciate it. It is not a perfect album, of course not, but who needs perfection anyway? | |

Thank you all for participating in this experiment. About half of you like the album and the other half don't. That means (using the calculations from some of you), that about 100,000 to 150,000 hardcore fans enjoy the album.
If that is considered good, then more power to you. If that seems like a dip in the quality of his work, then maybe he'll come up with something cool in an album or two. One thing you can say about Prince, is if you don't like his style today, wait until tonight. TRC, here today, gone today. Azure Star is right. It does feel wrong. Yes there are a few fans who liked it, but obviously not enough to make a dent in any sales charts or radio charts. The album will be seen as an extremely flawed attempt and never as a classic. I congratulate those of you who like it, but there is nothing that you could say that would prove it to be otherwise. Now, how many of you actually bought it rather than kept your copy from NPGMC? Hmmm? I love TRC. It's an album for musicians. U either get it or u don't. U, my friend, obviously don't. TRC is excellent in parts, boring as hell in others. It has 3 great tracks (Last December, Digital Garden, Sensual Everafter), a couple of funky, enjoyable jams (Everywhere, Family Name, She Loves Me 4 Me, Everlasting Now) and some truly boring shit (Mellow, Muse 2 The Pharao). Overall, far from his best, but definately no coaster. Some of you are very extreme, it's either 'the best thing he's ever done' or a 'coaster'. Personally, I think it's cool, a little annoying in parts (I hate having to listen to those stupid soundbites at the beginning of Family Name when all I want is the funk!). |

I liked it at first, but I really
don't play it much anymore. Iv'e already spokenup on my peeves: the narrator and "Wedding Feast", the single track indexing. Minor items to fams, but enough of an issue with me to disregard its strengths.
