Discuss: Resolution Here is your thread to discuss this track only - instead of scanning the main sticky - Enjoy, June7 from a movie scene. I said, "Don't mind, but what do you mean I am the one who will dance on the floor in the round?" Rest in Peace Michael Jackson 1958 - 2009 |

great message, just wish he had worked more on the lyrics and music here. One day I Prince would adapt using bongos or African beats or elements of other cultures in his music. I have 2 let this song and the Lion Of Judah sink in a little more. Don't u want to come , 3121. It's gonna be so much fun, 3121. That's where the party be, 3121. Y'all can come if u want to, but u can never leave!

As soon as I hear him starting to sing, it reminds me of some simplistic song on a children's TV programme for 4-7 year olds:

I think this song is great pop.. sounds like 7 mixed with raspberry beret.. not quite as good as either but really popish fun but with a serious message.

. I think that's pretty much how I see the song. I wanted to like it but so far it ain't happening. "After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill...the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill...you stay in wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."

mine too. together with "All The Midgniths in the World" those are my favorite tracks on the disc. can't say i really dislike any other tracks though, they're all nice enough. but i totally enjoy these three! i was born with the wrong sign, in the wrong house, with the wrong ascendancy

One of the best songs on Planet Earth IMO

Alltough it not really sounds like that song, it reminds me a bit of 'Hope of deliverance' from Paul McCartney, using a breezy, catchy popsong to deliver a 'message'.

I'm embarrassed for him on that one.

Overall I really love 2 tracks, (Planet Earth and Guitar)...I like 2 more a lot, (Somewhere Here On Earth and The One U Wanna C)... 2 are okay, (Mr. Goodnight and Lion Of Judah)... and the others, not so much. I have mixed feelings about the album similar to the way I felt about Musicology.

lyrics:
One bright day in the middle if the night,
2 dead boys got up to fight. Back 2 back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other A deaf Policeman head this noise, he came and shot the 2 dead boys. If you don't believe this lie

The keys during the final fadeout almost bring tears to my eyes. [Edited 7/15/07 11:26am] calm down there....keep those faucets shut. One bright day in the middle if the night,
2 dead boys got up to fight. Back 2 back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other A deaf Policeman head this noise, he came and shot the 2 dead boys. If you don't believe this lie

I like the production - the twangyness of the guitars and W&L's cooing vocals... However, the lyrics are nothing more than embarrassing High School poetry and the melody sounds like something Bruno Martelli would have composed for Doris Schwartz to sing, at a benefit concert for a student with brain cancer - or something. ![]() Great analogy And lovely to see you, Justin. . I don't understand all the hate for what is a GREAT song...all the bickering about the complexity of the lyrics? There are many Prince songs that deal with broad universal concepts and the reason that they still play well is the lack of specifics. You could make the same arguments about Pop Life...which has simple lyrics with big ideas. But I suppose some would like another Ronnie Talk to Russia. I think the ones that are accusing this song of being simple minded lack the depth to really understand the song. Am I the only one who's reading some personal undertones in this song between prince and w & l? So haters...whats the matter with your life?

Just this once can people like or dislike a song without being lambasted by the ones who don't agree??? SHEESH! "After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill...the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill...you stay in wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."
