PrintableI bought "Controversy" and it was the essential pre-internet source of Prince info. But, and I feel a bit bad for saying this, I never liked Eileen's editorial style. I realise she never claimed to be a writer, but the cosy, "I sat down with me cup of tea, put me feet up, and put on the new Batman album" style kind of grated.

I remember the last days with the selling of Prince items a very sad closure, If ur around Eileen thank you for all the fun times my memorys I hope your well.
I still have all my Controversy magazines plus my member’s card those are kept in my memory box im going 2 have 2 look through them all again. | |

His love of the spiritual side of things came back briefly when he made The Truth Angel in 97 before the great "purge" of web sites began! Last I heard, he was still involved with the offical site, doing his carpentry in the day. Last time I saw him, he was running the Love 4 one another stall in London. Forgot to mention, wasn't Chris responsible for getting the first bootlegs circlulating in the UK too? . | |

I remember Eileen! I have a few early issues of Controversy....from 1988,and it's entirely in black and white.
Anybody remember Linda Everett? I got to know her pretty well,from reading the Controversy fanzines. | |

(early inspiration 4 'camille' perhaps !). although, i wouldn't want 2 say that Chris was involved with the aforementioned, other than 'facilitating' our knowledge of them and possible ownership ! | |

And Eileen Murton was the editor and driving force behind the 'Controversy' fanclub Yes and what a star she was!! I remember going to Tower records and looking for the latest issue before subscribing! It was sucha warm and fantastic time to be a fan - used to get to camden market on a sunday to look for prince goodies! what a time! |

I remember going to Otley and going to Chris's shop OMG it blew me away all that Prince stuff. Went to his office and seeing a wall of back vinyl, Chris had put an article in his newsletter asking people to send in there Black LPS in so hey could be destroyed!! | |

diana stopped doing the newsletter after Paisley Park stated suing other fanzines and websites. man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 | |

i had all the first copies of the fanzine eileen did....she even sent me a free copy of inside the purple reign book because i was an unemployed teenager at the time and coundnt afford to buy it !!! ....she was a lovely lady... | |
