What is Xenophobia? Well I didnt know Xenophobia was a word and had a look on the web and found this site:

xenophobia (the song) is that brass riff you hear when you hit the main page of npgmc.
xenophobia means fear of the other. satrte said "l'enfer c'est l'autre" - hell is other people. that is true, if you want it to be. but then again, some might say that heaven is other people. both are true depending on where your heart is. Which comes across as really funny when you hear it. He asks another girl "is it better to be a leader or a follower?" she says Leader."too bad" says prince.Another girl obviously says follower and he asks her to follow him, he then asks if he can get her anything, and she says no politely.he then goes on to play a blistering solo on his guitar presumably for her. I got the 6cd set from New York gig 9/4/2002, and he says same thing.On Xenophobia he says"Last time I checked, this was not 1984, so if U come to get your Purple Rain on, U might as well hit the door"
And the 'leader or follower thing too!'He says , "Is it better 2 be a leader or a follower?"This guy says follower, so he says"Well, follow me", takes him up on satge, gives him a seat, and says "Would u like anything else?A beveridge?, dancing girls?, Is that a bootleg t-shirt u have on?Cuz I don't remember seeing that in our concession stand!!" I thought it was an off-the-cuff remark, I didnt realise he did it at other shows too-I'll be looking out 4 that at the Manchester gigs!! | |
