I AM NOT A PRINCE FAN!

That's right, I am no longer considering myself to be a fan of Prince. I now consider myself a student of Prince. He has taught me so much musically, aesthetically, sexually. giggle He is the master and I am the apprentice of the FUNK! giggle

One thing I would love to do is hit the dojo with him and spar.....

....WITH GUITARS!

Well I wouldn't really consider myself a Prince fan either but a fan of great music. Prince has made alot of it though!!

Hmm, I don't think I am anymore either. His music will always have a place in my heart and more importantly, on my hard drive nod

No no no. What I mean is I've transcended beyond the fan level. Now I'm a student of his style. That to me means more than fanaticism.

Either way, I think that's great.

Prince has taught me a lot about life and love. And I feel like cuz of him, I'm starting to change. Maybe he's brainwashed me to live his lifestyle of living every day to the fullest and such giggle

I've only been with him for 3 months and his music has already done a lot for me.
That's why I like to refer to it as a "soul-makeover".

Keep doing what you're doing. thumbs up!

Prince is the best, after all.

That's all well and good but he doesn't really have a definite style.

This ain't about putting myself on a pedestal as you might think. It's about my appreciation and education from my superhero. cool

I feel you on that! I've come to consider myself a Prince Scholar, of sorts.

I may not know everything about Prince but if they ever make a game show where you get to pick the subject, they pick the questions and you get one lifeline (Langbleu, I'll need you on speed dial, man! I'll take 40%, you can have 60%! Think about it! We'd make a great team! wink) I'm sooooo there!!

Ive followed the man and his music since 1983 and consider myself to be
somewhat of a Prince Historian. I call myself a "fam" since fan is short
for fanatic---(yeah, P said that), but he has affected all aspects of my
life in one way or another thru the years, I have all his music and I can
hear one note or a few seconds of any song and can tell u what song it is.
My wife tests me all the time...it is amazing that I have his catalogue of music
embedded in my brain/my soul.

Call me a purple politician or purple hippie ,,member of the npg,
part of the new breed...whatever....but I transcended long ago...much like
you may be experiencing...

If you have to resort to ad hominem attacks, it proves your argument is weak.

if you truly were in line with Prince's message, you wouldn't put HIM on such a pedestal. Prince is a bit of a religious man, and worshiping false idols is a bit of a violation of his own beliefs, so doing so with Prince actually contradicts his beliefs.
this message brought to you by logic.

I know it's not the point of this thread and I'm not trying to jack it or anything, but the whole "fan" vs. "fam" thing annoys me. Webster's will only say that fan is "probably short for fanatic" (emphasis mine) and if they can't say for sure, how can Prince? But even that's beside the point. Fan is a perfectly legitimate word in its own right (whereas "fam" is just silly). You can definitely learn a lot from Prince (I have) but grammar and etymology are not among them. (Cf. the whole Santa Claus letter, the misunderstanding of the prefix "con" in contract, the weird "mass = send Christ away" thing, etc.)
