I agree with Boy Simon. I was offended that he would join a religion where salvation is only for a small group of people.
You know the part of the bible where it talks about the 144,000 doesn't it say that that is how many is going to help God with the work in heaven? It doesn't mean that that is all that is going to be in heaven, right?

"Be glad that you are free": this really annoyed me at the time of release and still does so.

Annoyed is not the word you are after is it. These lyrics offended me, especially after the BS of Ronnie Talk to Russia.

All the names in Family Name that are quoted are Jewish.

Graffiti Bridge.

The Christ.

"Flying upon the wings of the New Translation": do the sufferers of Jehovah realise they cowtow to a religion that only has space in their heaven for 144,000 souls, no more, no less. The others go where? He once said "God is inside all of us, he just wants to come out to play"...which ones does he want to play with now Prince? ... that's really offensive.

FYI, the others are supposedly resurrected to eternal life in paradise on Earth.

"in paradise on Earth"

'Kay, so, like, in paradise that is not heaven? Like, in paradise that is a dead and dying planet? Like, in paradise on the planet where they've spent their entire lives?

Phew! LET ME IN! OH PLEASE!

Good God. At least the Catholics have a heaven with a bit of Liberace. For funs sake. Was this a FYI in an "Oh you should know this", an actual FYI or a sarcastic FYI...purleassse let it be sarcastic otherwise you are condemned to live your life on THIS earth forever AND believe it's paradise...your god is laughing behind his hand.

The FYI wasn't meant to be sarcastic or anything, I was just trying to point to a statement of fact about what the JW's believe, sorry if it offended.

The whole paradise on earth thing is what the JW's believe. the idea being that after armageddon, when all evil is wiped out, then all those who followed their beliefs will be resurrected. They believe that god is the all powerfull being and so the idea that he can restore the earth to a paradise is not far fetched. What you are left with is a healthy planet full of people worshipping god and living forever with peace and love according to his law. Is that not effectively heaven?

These aren't my beliefs but I did look into more than one religion while I was doing some searching, so I do know a bit about what I am posting here.

Cool. The thing is Prince used to be inclusive in his spirituality. His is not any longer...or rather, if he is a true JW the he cannot be inclusive of those who are non-believers. This is a sad state of affairs and one that I wish he would change. Me, I'm not really religious, but the notion that you can have a faith system that precludes love for all, or love4oneanother - to put it another way, strikes me as a poor religion and one that should be poked with a big stick. As a consequence this offends me.

BoySimon, I agree completely and totally with your point of view. Having learned a bit about the JW's though, I do understand why Prince now has the view he has, even though I don't agree with him and wish he would change back .
RIP sad

I have to add more comments to this thread. I seriously think that Prince has always been controversial and thought provoking and a bit rebellious and crude at times and there are times that his music was vulgar and sexist and this and that. But that's all good and you know why? Cause this is the Real world and this is what happens in it and this is how people talk and this was Prince's Emotions and Feelings and this get's us to Talk about him and you Know he's always pushed things to the limit and Never been afraid. And you know what you people I wouldn't want it or him any other way! And if you were a True Prince Fan you wouldn't want it any other Way either. I truly believe Prince Never,Never would Deliberately go out of his way to Hurt somebody. I think he has much more Class and Character than that. So I would say be Outraged and Scream at the Fact that Prince is by Far the Greatest Musician in the World. He's Genuine and doesn't Sugar Coat things. Doesn't Pull any Punches. Cuts to the Chase. Scream, but make it one of Exuberence! Realize that you Indeed are Witnessing someone who is so Way Ahead of his Time it is frightening. And feel lucky to Indeed be along for the Ride. Every Concert is a Celebration!

Yeah, his calling Abraham Lincoln a racist. I'm still waiting to hear all about this one. NPGMC put up a quote once, but no source. Give me sources please. Thanks.

When I contacted the NPGMC on this when it was first stated on the site they replied "We are waiting for that too".

So I assume Prince told them to put the quote up without giving them any additional information.

However,
On the back of the ONA tour book it says the Lincoln quoute is from the book "Forced Into Glory" by Lerone Bennet Jr. copywritten 1999.

Google Search came up with:

http://showcase.netins.ne...steers.htm

http://usgovinfo.about.co...82800a.htm

Video:
http://www.c-spanstore.com/158187.html

So I guess read the reviews and the book and come up with your own conclusion.

Was Lincoln a stone cold racist? Don't have all the info, but he really wasn't that enthused with freeing the slaves. The Original Emancipation Proclamation only freed some slaves, but not all.
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!
