To me, it'll probably be Sheila E but it would be nice if it was someone like Santana.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

If i had to narrow it down to three possible people.....they would be.....

1. Shelia E -though im not sure this would warrant "special surprise guest" since she has done this show many times

2. Santana- this might be an obvious choice

3. Paulina Rubio- The only reason im saying her is that she possibly will be getting a few awards this year and cleaned up at the Latin Bilboard awards, plus her music is leaning towards Rock, so i could see Prince playing guitar behind her

Im sure i will think of more

It'd be cool if it was The Time...

aside from the NAACP awards a couple of years back (found it online), I haven't really seen them perform aside of "Purple Rain".

Just as long as it's somebody that doesn't upstage him, I'm cool. But The Time would be cool. cool
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

They have tried.

The special guest is going to most likely be someone hispanic. I usually watch these awards and they always have the American musicians perform with a Latin American musician. So I think it will be Sheila or Santana.

I don't know who the special guest is, but I was thinking that it could very well be Penelope Cruz's brother.

He has a band that is very popular and - from what I've read - is very good. She and Prince seem very chummy, so it may be. Anyway, That's my 2 cents worth.

Although, The whole Escovedo Clan jamming with Prince would be something, as well.

I'll added a few guesses of my own:

      1. Carlo Santana - Almost every orger have this guess.

      2. Mayte - A long shot, but a damn good choice for shocking surprise guest (the most beautiful ex-wife in the world) that will do nothing but dance and be cute.

      3. Christina - If Prince does a duet with this woman, it would give her much bigger rave reviews than anything Beyonce received.

      4. The Pussycat Dolls - On backing vocals for Prince?!? Oh hell yeah I say.

      5. Madonna - How about a duet version of La Isla Bonita?

Sorry to burst your bubble but much as I hate to admit it, if Madonna was appearing it would be Prince as the surprise guest!

Some one higher up said that it won't be Santana because he would be credited. I gotta agree. If Prince is the headliner then the special guest will be a lesser star!
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

Haven't seen anyone speculate Gloria Estefan - Prince has dropped her name a few times at shows, and 'latin'-style songs like Baby Don't Care.

The "Surprise Guest" will not be of superstar status like Santana, or they wouldn't be billed as such. It's going to be a second or third string support act type.

      Maybe The Time?

I'm thinking Sheila E. will be honored for her achievements. Or her father Pete Escovedo!

      Sheila E. is half-Mexican.

Well i just think the way its advertised as "special surprise guest" it really would be someone that should be on the show, meaning a Latin Artist, I mean why else do the show. Last year at these awards any american artists that performed all had Latino Artists as there partner, so im thinking it will be someone in the latin market, someone that is being honored or nominated this year, which is why Im leaning towards, Paulina Rubio or Shakira, both are more Rock type artists, Paulinas current cd features Slash on some solos and Shakira's of course features Carlos Santana. I do think Prince will be teaming with another american artist, it really makes no sense.
