About 100 times, I showed it to my daughter once and she cried because she thought it was so sad.

falloff

It makes me cry nearly every time... but for different reasons.

Purple Rain is just plain beautiful. And his intense performance of "The Beautiful Ones" is 2 die 4.

That's the great thing about Purple Rain, it's one of those movies u can watch over and over and never get bored of it. Great casting. When I first saw it I was surprised how good Prince's acting was. I didn't expect that! My favourite scenes in the movie are when Prince and Apollonia ride on his motorbike and then Apollonia strips off and jumps into the lake. Also the scenes with Prince and his father were really touching.

That's definitely one of my favorite scenes... Prince is so mischievious... I've watched that scene a couple of times on its own just because I like seeing that side of him.

Then again, I'm not sure if u could call that night my 7th time... It was 1.5 hours of movie and 0.5 hours of commericals... stupid editing... good thing I dont watch that station 4 anything, cuz im boycotting it... nobody gets away with cutting "the best 10 minutes of my life".

But there'll be wayyyy more to come. I've found one more friend interested in seeing it (the last one hated it and completely ruined it for me by groaning every 20 seconds saying "SOOO BORING!!!") so as soon as i can catch up with her I'm watchign it AGAIN. biggrin

You can own the bare bones Purple Rain DVD for $9.99 in most stores. But, I recommend the 20th Anniversary Edition with a second disc of great extras, including live concert footage and videos. I just bought it for $19.99

Love Purple Rain, especially the club scenes. Plus, I like the semi-autobiographical story.

Looking at it after all these years makes me laugh. The acting, for the most part, wasn't stellar, which is understandable since the band members weren't actors, and the dilaogue isn't great, but it never bothers me.

I wish they'd release ALL of the music from the movie on one CD, including the songs from the soundrack we all know and love, PLUS all of the other music that appears in the movie, including the TIME, Appolonia 6, and Dez Dickerson

ya know..I have seen this movie more times than I can count seeing how I have been watching it for the last 22 years ( I think it's been 22)..anyways, when the anniversary edition came out I had to have it, but I have yet to even so much as break the seal on that DVD, I figure someday it might be worth a ton giggle, and I'll pass it on to my children, who like Prince also. But I would love to see all the extras that come on that DVD I sorta feel like I am missing something.. nod

That's INSANE. I've seen it 50 times, and I thought that was excessive! lol

BUT... I've seen Under the Cherry Moon 58 times. I've actually watched it 4 times in the last month. It's just a fun movie to pop in when you're doing stuff around the house... and in my opinion... while it's not better than Purple Rain, it's definitely more fun.

I'm surprised u guys keep track.

I wonder how they do it. Do they put a notch in the DVD case or what? lol

ha ha..not for lack of how many are out there..but maybe out of all those that are, maybe there won't be that many that have been opened and played..I know that's probably a silly reason, but none the less..that's my reason.. boxed
