I just saw a clip from what seemed like some kind of documentary about the Lovesexy tour...it showed two engineers, Femi Jiya and Rick Neigher talking about P in the studio...then they showed ppl assembling the prototype of the car used on the tour...then they showed the costumes being made...then it ended, but you can tell there was more. So...what's the story behind this? Can you see the full thing anywhere? It seemed really interesting.

I'm thinking that's Prince Of Paisley Park.

I got it on video somewhere. It was just a P documentary nothing flash. The part your on about was the Alphabet St. video shoot. P was not init apart from a long distance shot of P walking away from camera.

There was an official release of the Lovesexy tour film. Laserdisk and Double VHS in Europe only, I believe.

Just in case there is any confusion, that's not the Albert Magnoli film though - that's was a 12 minute special that aired on BBC2 in the UK in 1989 - premiering 'Partyman' at it's end. The NPGMC hosted the short doc for a little while.

I'm finding out so much info that's blowing me away about Prince that its sick. He did instore signings back in the day...boy oh boy, I wonder if he actually let people take pictures. I read that he videotaped just about every performance and rehearsal and just stores them for himself (selfish MF). I know he's into voyeurism and wonder if he gets as much pleasure out of watching himself perform as I do.

Yeah, basically the Omnibus documentary on Prince. I think I'm right in saying the Behind The Beat special used some of the same footage. They were also allowed to use some clips from the unreleased Magnoli film - such as Mavis Staples in a London studio with Prince.

I've heard that the American version of the documentary actually has less of the live footage for some reason.
