From the Source

Is Prince himself actually disappointed in any of the albums he's released?
Not because of sales or acceptance/non-acceptance by fans but because HE was not satisfied with the album as an artist??

If you look at some of the albums he's released over the past 10 years, and count how many of those songs he's NEVER played live. I think that gives you a fairly good indictation of his feelings !

He once said that he didn´t like Parade, that there´s nothing on it that he was proud of. This was during an interview in 86, said he rushed things and didn´t have enough strong material to release an album and wouldn´t make that mistake again. I think Parade is a great, almost flawless album.

I don't blame him for being disappointed with that one. I was too.

I'm sure that are a few less successful ones during his era of "The Artist" with WB that he wasn't happy with. He was releasing them one after the other, apparently having to rush through them to get them released.

As a true artist, I don't think he liked having to do that. Rushing art makes the ink run and the end product is nothing short of a mess.

... whoa, that's good, I gotta write that down later...

Writing music just to release it was probably the last thing he wanted and without taking every last precaution and initiative to make them the best they can be just results in something that doesn't resonate well with the "soul of a musican" that he possesses.

Whoa, this is some deep stuff... but that's what I believe Prince thinks of that messy time in the 90's when WB was hindering him for their own selfish reasons.

he said he was proud of kiss.....funny seeing that he had very little to do with the actual track that became a classic neutral

That is not what David Riven said the engineer on the record. No Prince no Kiss according to him.

Oh, I didn´t like it either...but that was back then , when I was just a fourteen year old Hip Hop head...I always liked Prince as part of the "Funk/RnB/Soul/early Electro/Hip Hop" scene ( at least in my teenage opinion back then ) and kinda lost interest after ATWIAD ( even though I loved Raspberry Beret and Paisley Park and Pop Life ) . Parade was way too much of a typical 80´s pop album for me, even though in retrospect, it really is actually a very funky and soulful album. I kinda lost interest in Prince up until Diamonds and Pearls and a mixtape that a friend of mine made for me.
Most of the material after Purple Rain was too "Pop" like for me , and his audience was different, too.. I was too much into HipHop and Funk to really appreciate the output between Parade and Diamonds and Pearls ( sure , I liked Sign Of The Times and the occasional song here and there, but I wasn´t the hardcore listener that I am today)..so , all in all, I see what you mean and understand your feelings ( I really do
lol ) but Parade is truly a great record.I love its style and elegance and the whole aura it has.It has a distinctly unique vibe to it.
