Firstly, the lyrics are simple, uninspired and infantile.

Second, I really don't see any reference to Prince.

Granted, Timberlake could be refering to Prince at a stretch, but I see nothing whatsoever in Timbalands verse.

These two would be utterly stupid to take on Prince. They've borrowed huge chunks of his style and Timberlake's band consists of mostly Prince's EX-band members.

I'm not convinced at all.

Even if it is, Prince won't reply anyway, so it'll all sink like a lead ballon.

First of all, did they say the song was about Prince?
Secondly, if it supposedly is, who the heck would guess it's about Prince other than you guys?
Thirdly, if I were "dissing" someone who is a lyricist, I would use some better lyrics.
Fourthly, (again if it supposedly is about Prince,) I wouldn't refer to him as a "piano man." If you've seen any of his recent live or televised performances, you'd noticed that 2006 & 2007 is all about the guitar.

The rest of you zealots need to do your homework if you think Timbaland is some kind of computer driven hack. He has always used technology as a tool to showcase his talents as a producer, but his beats have always been funky, they've always been innovative, and they've always been musical.

Prince was obsessed w/ Timbaland & Missy Elliot in the late 90's. He produced several tracks (or hired someone to do so) that were obvious attempts to incorporate their sound into his music. His production chops had fallen off and he was looking to a lot of artists for inspiration (Trent Reznor, D'angelo).

Prince is still the best "musician" on the planet, and I don't think Timberland or Timberlake would say anything different. They obviously respect him. His comment about Sexy Back didn't seem to be personal at all.... But if he in fact told Timbaland "You're not there yet" in a condescending way..... Then he deserves some some shit.
