Did Prince inspire to become a Musician?

After hearing Prince's music or seeing him live in concert , did it make you want to play a instrument or sing or write music, I was a kid when I first heard Madhouse or watched the SOTT movie watching Shelia E. play her solos, ive been playing drums since.

I took eight years of piano as a kid (starting when I was 8 years old). Seeing as how I was 24 when I saw my first Prince concert -- no. lol
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Not for me, but my 10 yr old brother wants to be a musician now. He watched Prince's movies and listened to most of his music. I just bought him an electric guitar for his birthday and now he wants to be Prince

I learned to make and produce music because of partial influence by Prince, and the other part The Beatles. I sometimes make decent money doing it!

If anything, he made me quit and lose the little ambition I had...it might change again, but he´s the kind of person who either inspires you or makes you realize there´s this kind of unbelievable talent out there, and you´ll never even come close...

Hey KoolEaze, think of it like this that Prince was'nt always the talent that he is today, im sure he use to look at James Brown, Sly Stone, Jimi Hendrix Al
Green, Stevie Wonder and George Clinton like he'll never be as big as those guys during sometime in his early development in music, you gotta hold onto your dreams kid...maybe on day we'll all be fans on yout own org! biggrin ....KoolEaze.org online fan Community, i can see it now. wink

In a lot of ways, yes. My initial interest in music was sparked by Elton John, when I was 3, so I have to give him credit for my enrollment in piano lessons. biggrin However, when I became a Prince fan at 13, I realized the importance of being a "musician", not just a singer, or performer. Singers often times get a bad rap for not knowing a lot about music. Prince inspired me to learn about the science behind music, and I went on to get a college degree. While the degree itself hasn't done a whole lot for me, the knowledge I have is extrememly valuable, and helps me write songs more easily. If I ever met him, I would thank him for inspiring me to study music, as well as create it.
Wanna hear me sing? biggrin www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

He inspired me, I wouldn't be a musician without him. Unfortunately, it is just such a competitive business that I probably won't do it for much longer. I love music and can always do that, but the people it attracts are pretty unsavory so I may just stop here. I am however thankful to Prince and I am very proud of what I have accomplished on my own.

He inspired me to start approaching music as an art form. Art meaning here being as weird as fuck, of course.

Definitely inspired me 2 be a musician. I saw "Purple Rain" in the movie theater when I was around 9 years old and just thought he was the coolest person in the world....making awesome music, being mysterious, having tapes of weird music with women moaning, getting busy with Appolonia, looking cool 24/7....I already loved music but after watching that movie I knew I wanted to be a musician and make music. I play bass and am learning guitar.

I learned to play piano when I was younger but Prince's music is always what I tried to play by ear when I was a teen...I haven't played in a while but I think he is capable of inspiring new generations (see my Prince's legacy post) and I know he does/will..he's still very young himself...

I've dreamed 2 play piano and guitar for years.... and now Im really doing it.

Prince always inspires me but not 2 become a musician. Its something I've always had in my blood...

i would have to say yes. i always aspired to do something musical, but as a child my parent's didn't encourage or didn't support it, so I had no way of pursuing it back then. I have now done so on my own. Taught myself keys (not extremely proficient), and now learning guitar, which I absolutely LOVE! I always figured I was a keys person, which is why I initially pursued keys, and never pictured myself on guitar..boy was I wrong!

Ive always loved to sing and dance, but I never wanted to play an instrument (seriously anyway) until I saw P, and Wendy play the guitar. That made me want to learn.

I've always wished my parents started me on an instrument, I've always loved to dance but Prince has really inspired me to learn guitar, even if I don't become famous I'd still love to have that skill of being a musician.

my parents started me on piano after my dad realized that I knew how to work the casio keyboard myself by age 4 and had perfect pitch hearing and would throw a fuss everytime someone sang a wrong note of a song I knew well or if I insisted they sing it in the proper scale. Later on I got into singing and dancing. I liked so many artists growing up but the jacksons just stood out to me more than ever in terms of wanting to put on a show and have all that talent. Prince and Madonna also entertain me quite a bit though not in a way that makes me want to perform like them
