ok, i've been trying to keep my mouth shut..but...well..anyways.

i agree..bashing is unacceptable in any form. however, you have too view both sides of the coin. i, as a white woman, have been bashed on these boards for being white. is that considered racist and should it be allowed? yes it is racist, and no it shouldn't be allowed....keeping that in mind, this is a public forum with people from all walks of life, that will have varying opinions. some feel that white people shouldn't appreciate prince's music as much as people of color. i mean, come one, to be bashed because i don't "understand" because i am white? to say i don't and shouldn't appreciate prince's music because i am white?

i agree with the above post though, i have seen the hateration on prince women regardless of color. i know specifically which thread yall are talking about when you speak of the bashing on the color of women in prince's life...but that was a very few select people making those comments, and they do not, i repeat, do not represent the opinion of the majority of orgers. wink

You are right, it is not all the orgers that bash women of color so let me apologize for that, but just a select few, and to tell you the truth I think bashing of any woman period on these forums is unacceptable..

thanks! i honestly also believe the bashing of women on these boards can get somewhat out of control.

people can have their opinion about me whether i am white, woman, or otherwise...i just let it roll, because nothing i say or do will change their mind and it is not my goal in life to feed into their mania cool , only to live mine to the fullest biggrin

Exactly, but at some point you as well as all women deserve to be treated with "Respect", I just find on these forums "Disrespect" gets a little out of control when there are discussions concerning Women of Color...it's 2007 this should not be happening on a Prince dedicated fan site who by the way is an Artist who has brought so many of us together.

if you don't mind me asking, when were you bashed for being white and what were you accused of not understanding?

i dont remember all the exact specifics, but the most recent was a thread awhile back in associated artists about tamar. i gave my opinion (a very nice glowing one at that) and i was told my opinion didn't matter because i was white and didn't "understand". in a separate thread in response to something i posted it was stated that "white people" didn't understand prince or his music. WTF??

Tx, maybe the reason that person did that, is probably because the person who said that to you was already fired up by all the disrespectful remarks made about him on these forums, who knows, and they took it out on you and should have tried to explain their reasons for feeling your opinion didn't matter. This is what I mean, threads like this lead elsewhere even if the author did not mean for it to go in that direction. Maybe it's time we are more more sensitive to other people's feelings around here. On HQ if they feel a thread is baiting they will lock it immediately, maybe the mods need to pay a little more attention when members are requesting a particular thread needs to be locked.

Actually, I don't believe that the bashing of some of P's women has to do with skin color. At least I don't hope it has to do with that. If people were so against him dating women of color then why are they fans of Prince and a member of this community...?

Thanks, but actually I edited that post and put "Prince's" name instead of "Tamar" because Tx said it was in reference to something she stated about Prince's music. But yeah, we need to be a little more sensitive to other people's feelings around here, including me, when posting a thread.

nod This and the Golden Globe thread have been asked by several people to be locked. It's getting silly (even though this thread has come to be about things that are important to discuss IMO). Where are the mods when you need them?

Anyone of you ladies that would be lucky enough ,myself included ,to look like Carmen Electra,You would have a lot larger bank account and you'd have so many men chasing after you it would drive you nuts. Prince couldn't resist her beauty.

Sorry, disagree, the only time Carmen looked interesting was when she was with Prince, then she had on more dramatic makeup and bigger hair.
Since then, she has looked average,I've seen plenty of women with prettier faces.

and no, i am ont saying any of them are "trash" lol , just using a famous quote to convey my point, we don't all see the same beauty. if we did, all women would have to look alike to satisfy everyone lol

I actually think that she looks fresh, natural and pretty as opposed to her normal heavily made-up trashy look which appeals to some men.

Just my opinion, lol
