You keep bringing up U2. Sorry but the "popular" songs that those guys have released have sounded like the same song over and over for the last 15 years. neutral

that's your opinion and i have my own opinion.
like it or not, u2 keeps making albums that people love, not just nut fans.

Then leave the Prince Org. and go to the U2 org..... neutral

Prince's only competition seems to be himself. I think he realised this and chilled out a bit. Took a bit of pressure of himself and started playing around.
His earlier 'peak' stuff - i.e. almost everything he did through the 80s - is just so out there, off the scale, focussed, obsessed over, ahead of it's time etc...can you imagine having the pressure of that as your competition??

It's gonna take people a long time to catch up to Prince. What makes that clear for me is trying to imagine When Doves Cry or (especially) Sign O The Times released as singles today. They still sound like nothing else. No competition.

Don't be too hard on what he does these days. I think he may still have a lot of stuff left in the basement.

hey prince has alwaya remained true to himself. one of the reasons that he changed to the "symbol" was so that he could do his music his way . no competing, he wasz never into that.being a fan you should realize that.there were never rules for prince never will be . he doesnt need the popularity he just wants to be heard , his music, from purple rain onwards its always been his music and what h e had to say. he had always been ahead of his time but right now most people are going through a rnb dance phase, but for those who remain true will succeed.

maybe he doesn't WANT to compete ? and why would he want to compete with the talentless no-hopers who are in the charts today....how many of todays chart acts will be around in 5 years, let alone 25 years like he has sustained. Judging from seeing him in Las Vegas in December he is happy where he is at at present...as he said in 'my name is prince' : ''ive seen the top, and it's just a dream''

biggrin

EXACTLY!

He would never wanna share the charts with the likes of the top 40 losers of today disbelief

He's doing just fine finanically - makin boatloads of cash. He doesn't need to be played on the lame radio to make a living.
