Purple Rain is my all-time favorite album.

Purple Rain and Parade are tied for my favorite album of all time.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Like I've said before, I don't think of such things, but I'll have to agree with you here. The Beatles: ah yes those Beatles.

Sargent Peppers Lonly Hearts Club Band. biggrin
Magical Mistery Tour. biggrin
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

really interesting feedback from all, cheers. I really hope that P goes on to make a handful of Albums where he just lets go and does what he wants and not for moment think about sales, sounding like JB or Miles! or providing a vehicle for young chicks to add their 'input'!.

I really can't choose between The White Album and Parade for my all time fav album. right now it's The White Album, but I'm sure it will be Parade when it's summer again.

Do the seasons factor into it, or is it just the ebb & flow of your tastes? I find certain music sound better during certain seasons. Maybe the White Album is winter music. Prince is fairly summery (with exceptions of course).

No 1 of all time??
Of course I don't know what lies ahead - that is one thing I can say for sure.
Whenever I moved and could only take a limited amount of "stuff" the firat CD I always grapped was SOTT.
Maybe one day it will be something else, maybe it won't.
Love,
A

PS Second album always was ATWIAD and then Barbara Streisand eek eek

SOTT is probably the album i have listened to the most of all of my collection. All time favourit (as the years pass by) is probably Pink Floyd (The Wall). Prince's music (in general, not all songs) seem to have some trouble to survive the years. (They are not really classics, for that reason).

this may sound awful but i find tracks on there sound dated now. When it was released ,like Lovesexy , there was nothing else like it out there. Hot Thing, It, Play in The Sunshine [which sounds now sounds like a Seasame ST. track!] and others sound like good B sides. SOTT as an album has not aged well like many, many other classic albums.

These are my all time favorite artists. Ziggy is a masterpiece and EL is one of those albums in which everything came together to form an instant classic.

PR is a favorite. The only reason I would not give it the outright #1 spot is because I think P had several albums that might have been better (e.g. 1999), but I would say all three are in a tie for my favorite

That's exactly what I mean, the seasons are definately a factor. Parade is the ultimate summer album to me! I rarely spin it in the cold months.

I generally agree, but it's funny this year I was feeling like Sometimes it Snows In April was actually a great Christmas song.

It doesn't exactly make sense, but I often feel lonely at Christmas (especially surrounded by family) and that song captured the mood perfectly.

Favorite album of all time: Sign "O" The Times
Favorite song of all time: I Would Die For You

Just because I am a Prince fan does not automatically make his stuff my favorite. I listen to a lot of music, most of which honestly is better than Prince's work.

My close second favorite album of all time would be Achtung Baby.

Love Prince to pieces but my all time favorite is Bruce Springsteen's "Darkness on The Edge of Town" this kind of music is about real life and can change real lives. As much as I love prince, there is nothing that i can really relate to on a topical basis, i have never been promiscuous, narcissistic or really into image so I am left just admiring his brilliance.
