what's the story on this outtake? Has a more alt rock friendly modern feel (from what I remember), which is very unusual for him.

believe it's either a Rave outtake or an outtake right around High and the early Music Club days.

Nah, I've heard it is from around '95. To my knowledge, there hasn't been any new studio outtakes circulating from beyond '96.

Really great song - doesn't really sound like another Prince song IMO.

i thought sandra st. victor (soul sanctuary) wrote those lyrics. wasnt it an emancipation outtake?

The song "Nothing Left To Give" was written by Sandra St Victor and V. Jeffrey Smith and was orginally planned for release in 1993 or 1994..

It was one of several songs given to Prince when Sandra St Victor planned to "collaborate" with him on material.

To varying degrees, Prince took the material and worked on it, sometimes using only an element of the original composition. The outtake, 'Stone', resulted.
