little known prince song: "Stone" what's the story on this outtake? Has a more alt rock friendly modern feel (from what I remember), which is very unusual for him.
what are the lyrics? My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

believe it's either a Rave outtake or an outtake right around High and the early Music Club days.

Nah, I've heard it is from around '95. To my knowledge, there hasn't been any new studio outtakes circulating from beyond '96.

Love that song! AKA "Heart Of Stone". Some really great music and lyrics!
the thirsty leaf says Autumn's in the air what's left of love is . . . dangling somewhere shouldn't we cherish it, and treat it with respect? or hang around so long there ain't nothin' left? Really great song - doesn't really sound like another Prince song IMO.

The song "Nothing Left To Give" was written by Sandra St Victor and V. Jeffrey Smith and was orginally planned for release in 1993 or 1994..
It was one of several songs given to Prince when Sandra St Victor planned to "collaborate" with him on material. To varying degrees, Prince took the material and worked on it, sometimes using only an element of the original composition. The outtake, 'Stone', resulted. If you visit Sandra's site at: http://www.sandrastvictor.com/ and then select the link, Music, there is a link to 'Sanctuary' under the Solo section. This section provides information and links to material including earlier recordings, elements of which later evolved in the Prince-related work: Love Is (later 'Van Gogh', recorded by Van Gogh on the album, 'Van Gogh' [1998], and the Prince version also subsequently released as NPGMC download [2001]) I'll Never Open My Legs Again (later 'Eye'll Never B Another Fool' recorded by Chaka Khan on the album, 'Come 2 My House' [1998]) Nothing Left To Give (later 'Stone' or 'Heart Of Stone' - unreleased) Sanctuary (later 'Soul Sanctuary', released by on the album, 'Emancipation' [1996]) How We Livin (later 'Livin' 2 Die (Our Lives)' - unreleased) . Wow.
"Soul Sanctuary" is NOTHING like "Sanctuary". "He's a musician's musician..."
