Prince is a huge ass.
Did I just notice that his Goddamned NPG ass-lickers made princefams.com remove their entire fucking gallery?!?!?!?!?! Am I wrong or is that true?

He is an asshole. I swear swear swear that I will never ever ever ever ever spend another nickle on his ass. I cannot believe that we sit on this and other sites and (most of the time) glorify this bitch daily and he turns around and bites the fucking hands that feed him. grrrrr. I am done.

He is a warped control freak. Someone who takes as much effort to look as he does is obviously very concerned about the way people perceive/judge him.

Being stared at is one thing. Demanding that you not be looked at when being addressed or looked in the eyes when being talked is a power-trip. I look everyone in the eye when I speak to them. I wish somebody would tell me I am not allowed to look at them when I am SPEAKING to them.

that is your twist on this story....no one said that at all.

So, saying someone will get fired if they look at him or instructing someone to not look at him is not a demand?

I once read a story about the same thing happening to someone who was working closely with Prince. The story went on to state that all the while this person was trying to avoid making eye contact with Prince, Prince was going out of his way in an attempt to make eye contact with the person. The lengths the person went to to avoid eye contact was hilarious, and when he finally did make eye contact, Prince laughed. It was stated that Prince told this person that he makes that request to see how long it takes someone to make eye contact finally. It was told as it being something of a joke that Prince does to people he comes in contact with, just to see how uncomfortable he can make them as he attempts to make eye contact and they attempt to avoid it. Can't remember where I read this story though.

I often get along with dogs, feel I understand them.
I have a distant respect for cats, They're selfcontained. They've taken one branch of creation to a point perfection and they never look back. Still, I can't really warm to them.

**** I agree with u. Dogs have something that cats dont. Cats will b always my favourite ones.

Dogs r closer 2 us. Im curing dogs in that shelter where I work as volunteer.

Well I for one am starting a new trend, when I go to a Prince concert I will instruct my bodyguards to inform his bodyguards to not look anywhere in my direction, otherwise I will be pissed and leave the venue. Sounds extremely pointless and stupid, I would the same goes for him. Just plain dumb. As far as him being P and all if he didn't act and dress the part people wouldn't stare. His music priceless, his antics stupid

if you are referring to another story besides the one which started this thread perhaps you could fill me in on it because this here thread did not say someone would get fired, it said his handler "cautioned everyone on the airline to not only NOT talk to him, but to avoid eye contact with him altogether". Not "Demanding that you not be looked at when being addressed or looked in the eyes when being talked" as you put it.
I think it's all hear say for one thing and could be entirely true OR false. If true I think it's possible that's it's only in an attempt to avoid some level of staring.

It's a what d'you call it? ... Well one of the drawbacks for being in show-business - people staring
AN OCCUPATIONAL HAZZARD and is therefore part of a very well paid job.
2 hell wid' it I'd stare, me!

i wouldn't call it a hazard...more like a by-product of stardom, really.

Shorty said:

I can understand the urge to stare...I wanted to untill I saw how out bad it really was. At the first celebration, as soon as the man walked in the room there was a crowd of people around him (he was behind in like a soundboard area)they stood and stared at him constantly, to the point where he'd occasionally turn his back just to get a break. It was quite sad really, he was like a zoo animal, I felt for him.

that's what i've never understood about those who just constantly stare at him simply because he's there...everything else that's going on in the room! all the people one could be making friends with! the vibe in the place!...and muthafuckas just gawk at him as if he were an exhibit at the science center or something. it's really unnerving to me.

poor prince. i feel sorry for him. if i were a celeb and people stared at me all the time it would make me nuts. i'd likely snap under the pressure and only venture out into public veiled head to toe like a muslim lady nod

or, i would become really, really good at disguising myself as someone else

I heard the same urban legend about Mariah Carey and some other celebrities.

I can see both sides to this. As a fan, you just want to say Helllo and Thanks or just have a story to tell at the dinner table that night. And it seems a small thing for the famous person to be gracious and say Hello and Thanks For Your Support in return. Common courtesy would seem to be in order.

But think of it from the celebrity's perspective. If they are on the road performing and making scheduled appearances, basically working around the clock, is it too much to ask that they at least get a few moments to relax and recharge while in transition from one event to the next? Most of these situations have to do with airline, hotel or restaurant staffs or the support staff at venues they play. Imagine if you had to have all eyes on you not just on stage, but be chatted up by the waiter at breakfast, by the limo driver on the way to the show, the security folks at the arena, the cleaning lady in the dressing rooms, the catering staff at lunch, reporters after sound check, bell hops at the hotel and the flight attendant and all the passengers around you on the 3 hour flight to the next place.

It might not be so bad if folks just said Hi and kept steppin'. But you KNOW folks are crazy. If you say Hi, they want a handshake or a hug, then a picture, then to tell you their life story, give you a demo of a song they're working on or pass you a starfish. lol

See what happens to you the next time you're on a plane and mistakenly make eye contact and smile at your seat partner. You're likely to have to listen to details of their kidney stone drama or hear every detail of their family reunion plans unless you put on headphones and close your eyes (and sometimes that doesn't stop them either!).
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

Like I said, Prince does not have the right to have anyone instruct anybody to not look at him when addressing him. That's a basic human right. If I am doing my job and part of my job is to address him (ex:to ask if he needs anything). I am going to look straight into his eyes and ask HIM, not anyone else. He is not God, nor is he (real) royalty. If he was royalty I still wouldn't go for that crap, just like I would wouldn't bow to a king or queen. I bow to no one but God

and actually, I know someone who worked for him and they were instructed to not look at him when talking to him which is the truth and a ridiculous demand

I know I'm stumbling over details here but this story didn't say specifically about not to look at him while addressing him...that is something your friend told you...so I can see why you keep inserting it here. Either way, I'm not saying it's cool for him to do so but he has every right to do and say as he pleases just as you or I have every right to say screw you and look right at him. biggrin

Well, that's part of the problem with Prince. He seems like he's always wanted to be famous, but on his own terms, and that's just not possible.

He wants people to love him, but he doesn't want the extra attention when he's in public. He wants people to hear his music, but he resents them criticizing songs they don't enjoy.

You can't have it all, Prince! If you want the money and love, you have to accept the loss of privacy and all the gossip.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I don't think he's an A-hole, he's obviously suffering from some type of mental illness-- paranoia, delusional behavior, maybe even OCD and bipolard disorder. Now whether he's been diagnosed with it or not, or taking any psychotropic meds to help deal with the problem, is not really any of my business. What matters to me is that he makes great music-- and he has been-- after all these years!!
