Lovesexy was inspired by Todd Rundgren?

I read an old article where the writer insists that Lovesexy was inspired by the Todd Rundgren lp Something/Anything. I actually have this lp (cant play vinyl right now).

Anyone heard this lp and is there any comparison?

I wouldn't be surprised, although I've never heard that. Rundgren is one of Prince's favorite artists. He did a very cool song from Something/Anything titled "International Feel", which is a fave of mine. Prince's symbol guitar shape is very similar to a guitar Todd played during the 70's. I don't hear any connection to Lovesexy though.

Your remark about Rundgren playing a symbolesque guitar in the 1970s made me google all pictures of Rundgren but there weren´t any pics with him playing a guitar that even remotely looks like the symbol guitar....not that I doubt your knowledge, it´s just that I´m very curious now...do you have any pics of that guitar that you could post here ? I couldn´t find any pic with a symbol-like guitar...

What about Eric Bloom's guitar shape?

Not to get all nit-picky or anything, but that song's from 'a wizard, a true star'.

While I can't see any relationship to Something/Anything, I could see someone trying to connect A Wizard... to Lovesexy. Both have very dense, layered productions and both were meant as seamless album-length 'experiences' rather than a collection of tunes.

incoherence edit.
