"Song Of The Heart" Confirmed As Single

NEW YORK, NY--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 9, 2006
Atlantic Records has announced the forthcoming release of "MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE: HAPPY FEET," the original motion picture soundtrack to the Warner Bros./Village Roadshow comedy adventure. Due in stores on October 31st, the album features performances by contemporary recording artists, as well as members of the film's cast. "Happy Feet" is slated to open in theatres nationwide on November 17.

The first single from "MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE: HAPPY FEET" will be a brand-new track by Prince, entitled "Song of the Heart". Also featured on the collection is "Hit Me Up," the debut single from new Atlantic recording artist Gia Farrell.

In addition, "MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE: HAPPY FEET" sees a variety of artists reinterpreting some of rock, pop, and soul's greatest hits, including songs originally recorded by The Beatles, Bread, Steve Miller, Rufus & Chaka Khan, and Stevie Wonder. Among the soundtrack's highlights are newly recorded tracks from Pink; K.D. Lang; Atlantic recording artist Jason Mraz -- in a once-in-a-lifetime mashup with Chrissie Hynde; and the soul-sational trio of Patti LaBelle, Atlantic recording artist Yolanda Adams, and Fantasia Barrino; as well as classics from the Beach Boys and the Brand New Heavies.

The album also features songs made famous by Earth, Wind & Fire; Elvis Presley; Prince; Queen; and Frank Sinatra, as performed by some of the film's stars, including Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Robin Williams and Brittany Murphy. "MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE: HAPPY FEET" will close with "The Story of Mumble Happyfeet," written and produced by the film's score composer John Powell.

A comedy adventure, "Happy Feet" is set in the great nation of Emperor Penguins. Deep in Antarctica, you're nobody unless you can sing -- which is unfortunate for Mumble (ELIJAH WOOD), who is the worst singer in the world. He is born dancing to his own tune... tap dancing. Mumble's mom, Norma Jean (NICOLE KIDMAN), thinks this little habit is cute, but his dad, Memphis (HUGH JACKMAN), says it "just ain't penguin." Besides, they both know that, without a Heartsong, Mumble may never find true love. Leaving home, Mumble meets the Adelie Amigos, led by Ramon (ROBIN WILLIAMS). The Adelies invite Mumble to party with them in Adelie Land, where Mumble seeks the counsel of Lovelace the Guru (also voiced by ROBIN WILLIAMS), a crazy-feathered Rockhopper penguin who will answer any of life's questions for the price of a pebble. Together with Lovelace and the Amigos, Mumble sets out across vast landscapes and, after some epic encounters, proves that by being true to yourself, you can make all the difference in the world.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Kennedy Miller production, in association with Animal Logic Film. A George Miller film, "Happy Feet" features the voices of Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Brittany Murphy, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving and Anthony LaPaglia. The film also features the tap dancing of Savion Glover.

"Happy Feet" is directed by George Miller, who also co-wrote the screenplay with John Collee, Judy Morris and Warren Coleman. The film is produced by Doug Mitchell, George Miller and Bill Miller, with Zareh Nalbandian, Graham Burke, Dana Goldberg, and Bruce Berman executive producing.

"Happy Feet" will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

The film has been rated "PG" for "some mild peril and rude humor."

wouldnt it figure that Prince would have trouble for years getting back into the top 40 with some good songs but maybe a soundtrack song from a penguin movie could do it? smile

Could be interesting....

Song of the Heart is nice. Nothing spectacular, sadly. But good enoguh for a kiddie movie. And who knows, maybe I'll warm up to it the more I hear it. shrug

As for the actor singing. Hugh Jackman (THE WOLVERINE!) I'm not too worried about. The guy's done Broadway, before and after making Hollywood-type movies. He can't be that bad. But Nicole Kidman? Eh, we'll see. She was a low point in Moulin Rouge for me.

lmao. Yes I'm sure Prince thought there was more money in a SINGLE for a soundtrack than in his own ALBUM. I mean, you are joking, right? As if he stopped promotion for 3121 because he wanted to do a single for a film. He could have done both easily, he stopped promoting 3121 months and months ago. confused

I'm interested in K.D.'s cover of Golden Slumbers.

And for Prince, another Oscar would be cool! He has a good chance IMO, seeing as how not many good songs are being written for movies nowadays. His song would sound great performed live at the awards! Oh, now I'm just getting ahead of myself...
