When he rose up from beneath the stage while reciting the opening lines of "Let's Go Crazy" during the Dec. 30th, 1984 Purple Rain Tour in Dallas, TX. I went crazy! The lights, the steam, and his head of curly hair (back then) slowly coming up from the stage floor. The movie "Sign 'o' the Times" also blew me away. And, the Lovesexy concert was absolutely amazing from start to finish.

I've only seen him live once - on the One Night Alone Tour at Hammersmith Apollo or whatever it's called this week.

Anyways, I was really excited for the whole thing, and I remember when he started playing his solo in Rainbow Children, I had the opera glasses out and seem to remember yelling to my then girlfriend, "Look at his little hands!" biggrin

I'd just had an operation on my leg so couldn't stand up for the whole show. I was sitting down when he did that slow blues version of Got a Broken Heart Again and all I could see was his shadow on the wall, and it still looked amazing. Had to hold back a tear, which is so embarrassing!

Prince performing "Darlin Nikki" in the PR movie.

I had only listened to him up to that point, other than the 1999 and LRC videos which I loved.

But when that red light was on and he did his thing *SPROING* mushy

Same with me... only I'm a newbie in this whole Prince fan thing... so it wasn't until this summer.

It was that, and his "I love you too, baby" in his I Would Die 4 U performance on the Purple Rain DVD...

Oooh, it's exciting stuff being a Prince fan! Be prepared for your friends not coming round as much as they used to, though.

"No, wait - you've GOT to hear this..."

The dance sequence in the Little Red Corvette video when they first showed it on MTV in 1982. I was doing early morning TV in those days and the guys in the control room always put MTV on overnight. I was sitting at a computer making weather graphics and that video came on. The shiny purple raincoat caught my eye and I was transfixed -- and when he got to the dance, I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

It was all over at that point -- and I've never recovered.

That's exactly what got me hooked in the first place

I think it was really a lot of things combined that hooked me in one moment to Prince. But, what comes to mind, is being 13 and staring at Prince in his purple trench coat and that thick black hair. I loved that look--I loved that he loved purple. I loved the layout on the little red corvette and 1999 videos. They were so different, so grounding breaking back then. Overall--I think it was that he was totally GLAMROCK but in a completely soul-funky way.

Speaking of BJs (Not the retail Giant) When he had Wendy simulate buffin' the helmet in concert that was mindblowing. (Blowing) Never saw that happen on stage before Prince.

What was even more mindblowing is the way she was dressed and her hair and everything made it look like a clone of him going down on himself. Weeeeiiird...

Well, the fact that he was so GORGEOUS--the Jet Magazine Afro picture was the first time I ever saw him back in '78. Totally blew my mind. Second place would have to be when dude decided to start performing in a trench coat, G-string and legwarmers. (Even though, by then we had the dude from Parlaiment Funkadelic who wore the diaper--but it just wasn't the same sexiness!)
