"Computer Blue" is about online dating?

What do you guys think Computer Blue is about? I reckon it is about online dating websites.

"Until I meet the righteous one, computer blue."

Means until I meet someone good on the dating website, my computer might as well be blank - the Windows blue screen of death.

Could Prince have been thinking of the idea of online dating before anyone else way back in Purple Rain era??

the original working title of the song was "commodore 64 blues", so you're probably right.

Actually I think it is about the feeling you get when Windows gives up on you and shows the beautiful blue screen...

There's a song by Kraftwerk that came out in 1980 called "Computer World" that is right on target! Talk about being dead on 26 years before the fact.

You have to keep in mind that Computer Blue was recorded about twenty-three or so years ago. I don't know how familiar Prince or anyone else for that matter were aware of online dating and/or websites.

Could this be why he sings it in E harmony?
