I will admit I laughed a few times during the movie. Sometimes when I was supposd to.

But I lauged the hardest at inappropriate times, like when Ingrid says "it's just around the corner" for the Nth time and someone in the audience shouted "We don't get the concept!!"

lol sexxydancer you make me feel so normal in my Prince obsession! biggrin

Seriously, I purchased GB a few months back and I just could not get into it - the story had too much going on, the dark sets, Ingrid as a lead was not doing it for me, the acting was poor as well. However, Prince looked sooooo yummy in that movie. I watched the E&F and Tick Tick Bang performances over and over again. And there is one scene where he is walking with Ingrid after ridig the motorcyle and the wind blows his hair- whew, save me! biggrin

GB actually had some great music. I absolutely love some of the songs from it.

My favs were:

NPG
The Question of U
Joy in Repetition
We Can Funk
Tick Tick Bang
Thieves (such a tease though, the remix just set it off!!)
Can't Stop
E&F

These are all awesome songs to me.

bellanoche and sexxydancer, you've got company. I LOVE GB and everything else Prince has ever done. Yes, I too like everything.

My embarrassing GB story - I remember when this movie came out in 1990. I went the theater that was having the premier in NY, the Zeigfeld, and stood outside on the red carpet taking pictures of the stars as they arrived. When Prince got to the theater he went in so fast that I only got a picture of his butt, great pic though. Well, I was all excited to see the film the opening Friday. I took my then new girlfriend (now my wife) and my best friend. My girl was a new fan thanks to me, and my best friend was a huge U@ fan at the time. We would have constant debates about who was better, comparing lyrics and guitar styles. So you can imagine my shock and awe as we sat in that theater and witnessed one of the worst movies ever. My friend laughed his ass off at how bad the movie was and held it over me for years.

And yet, for some reason I feel the desire to pop GB in the DVD player and watch it.

This movie has a nice lil message behind it...and of course movies are built on the imaginary and/or illusion - fantasy if u will. My fantasy would've been for him to race to my office and pick me up from work and read me his sonnets under his lil bridge....uh, yeah. Haha. No, but he could pick me up and take me out for dinner and tell me how his day went. Haha!!! lol

I've told this stroy before. When I hear anything about this movie this is what I remember:

I brought a friend of mine to this movie, he said it was so bad that he had to leave. I wanted to watch it for the music portions.

About half way through, he could not stand another second (actually I believe it was the quiet scene under the bridge), he stood straight up out of his seat, proclaimed to all 18 people in the theater that he was a movie reviewer and he wanted to share his review!

He paused just the right amount of time, and in complete silence farted very loudly then stormed out.

Till this day, I do not remember if the tears in my eyes were from laughing so hard, the smell or the movie.

It's true, and that's kind of an achievement. A great artist who happened to make what may be the worst movie of all time.

You can love a movie and still acknowledge that it's utter garbage...

It may not be a cinematic masterpiece, but I have seen much worse. As for the storyline it may be a bit corny but it is sweet too.

Please tell me what could possibly be worse. eek

I'll go find it tonight, and pop some popcorn.

OK - this is really weird, I know. I'm about to go to sleep, and I'm thinking back to my viewing of GB about 6 hours ago.

And you know what...I'm actually feeling a bit more fond towards it now..!

I know it sounds odd. Maybe the dreamlike surreal quality of it does have something there. I'm almost tempted to watch certain bits again before I return the disc.

Like the Tick, Tick, Bang, Bang performance...and Thieves in the Temple.

I keep thinking about that darned bridge.

I'm actually going to put the song "Graffiti Bridge" on right now, while I brush my teeth.

Prince has that effect sometimes - you hate it initially, but it grows on you without you even realising....

It's still a crap film though!

You suddenly felt very sleepy while viewong it didn't? But, you persevered.

That's why the SOTT DVD Concert Movie is his best movie. It's him doing what no one else can. The music performances in his movies are awesome. i almost fell off the top of a piano trying to imitate the "Girls & Boys" song.

1. Release It
2. Jill Jones - sorry, sexist, but, she's dreamy.
3. Getting Miko to deliver the line, "She's three fine". That's genius.
4. The 'duelling money'.
5. Elephants and Flowers - wonderful Adam Ant retro thang goin' on.
6. Prince's delivery of the "She's two fine" line that prompts Mikos response.
7. Jerome playing a Gameboy while Prince sings Tick Tick Bang. Funny.
8. Tick Tick Bang. I LOVE!
9. Joy in Repetition.
10. (and the only actual good thing to come out of GB) Claude Debussy's "Danse Sacree, Danse Profane". The most moving music. Fooled me at the time. I sat there and thought, "Wow, Prince writes classical stuff too!". Nope. It was Debussy. It IS superb.

what about T.C. Ellis and his Oscar-worthy performance?

"I told you, kid, you should have let me rap!"

and who can forget Ingrid Chavez's beautifully spoken lines....

"It's just around the corner"

disbelief lol this movie is a big turd

Eww, Ingrid gets on my last nerve. ill
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I lived in Baldwin Hills LA and I saw it at Magic Johnson's first theater. This theater is right by the hood called "the Jungle". Projects and gangstas for real. It was really pleasant even though he never really got raw like folx was expecting. When Tevin came on, mofos lost they mind. Pleasant trip although I think Prince is better w/ a director. The opening of Purple Rain is exhibit A. Lets Go Crazy defines this cat. Clothes, eyeliner, broads, booze, his boyz, fucked up family life, ...the realness.

Okay - how weird is this people?

I haven't stopped listening to the GRAFFITI BRIDGE album all weekend.

It is on right now in fact.

And I'm not even skipping any tracks each time (except Melody Cool).

I'm even enjoying the track 'Graffiti Bridge'.

What's happening to me!??
