Prince never wins any of those artist vs artist rounds.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It's so great hearing DMSR on the radio...somehow it's better than hearing it on my own cd player or Mp3 player.

I can't tell you how many times i've called radio stations and sounded like an absolute dork casting my Prince vote in these types of things.

I tried getting through, but it was busy for too long. I would have said this: There is no Stevie Wonder song that I do not like, but Prince's music has so much more depth and complexity.

What they need to do is play some B sides or songs that weren't singles like Joy in Repetition or something. Mojo would have if he were doing this.

Why did they come from the commercial break playing Lady Cab Driver at the spoken word part and then cut it off 15 seconds into it and then started playing Stevie's "As?" mad

Part of the problem Prince was getting blown out by Stevie in a landslide so early was a lot of those people who called in had a bias: they wanted to make sure their hometown hero Stevie come out on top. More than a few callers said "we have to represent for the "D" (Detroit) and protect our own. That kind of mentality is cool when playing sports, but that kind of bias and narrow-mindedness tainted the battle. Plus Dustysgirl is right. 92.3 FM plays the same Prince songs everyday and every battle of the old school. I've never heard them play "Alphabet Street", "I Hate U", "Cream", "Batdance" or album cuts like "Joy In Repetion". I'm kind of suspicious of the final score Prince 249- Stevie 251. It's seems like a lot of P fans and the station made up some votes inorder for the battle to appear close. But anyway shout-out all the Detroit Prince fans!!

It's really not that serious. 92.3's core demographic is people 45 and older. When you ask folks from that demographic to vote for Prince or Stevie, you kind of know going in that Stevie's gonna win. Especially in Detroit.

All you guys listening to Mix 92.3 FM this weekend, huh, when you could have been at Buzz Bar, 546 E. Larned, Saturday night for another edition of WWPD - What Would Prince Do? with DJ Ben and TheDetroitCrawl.Org .

Did some of you make it last night to Buzz?

DJ Ben Beverly dusted off a bunch of old skool Prince and Vanity and THE TIME last night. Never heard Sexy Dancer extended so sweet in my life. It's been a while, a long while.

What happened at Buzz while you were listening to the radio? Peep the report --

Do have to admit, though, Mix 923FM is playing some cool stuff this Sunday afternoon -- including Tamar's Sunday in the Park. Sweet.

Okay, a whole weekend of Prince free, can't complain. Yeah, Buzz Saturday night was free. And it will be free again on Saturday, Sept. 23. See ya!
