I think this is a true sign of stupidity on Prince's part. His statement that we should go to this passage and take it as a directive to NOT idolize is purely HYPOCRITICAL!! Does he think so little of his fans that we wouldnt use the eyes God gave us?!? You cannot do one thing and say another and remain credible. He has not "sold out" (that was YEARS AGO), but he has sacrificed his credibility with his fans. Sorry to say that after all these years, but that's my take.

I will not stop buying his music (and bootlegs especially), but I think its a waste of my time to read any interviews from him after this when most of what comes out of the man's mouth is either ignorant (covers shouldn't be done -- citing a great cover like Aretha's version of Redding's "Respect") or simply a load of horseshit!

I did NOT watch the performance last night, and I have ZERO desire to see it; its a crappy talent show for Christ's sake! And my anger is NOT based on his performance -- that is purely irrelevant. What is relevant is his hypocritical attempt to have it both ways. Asshole move, my man, asshole move.

yeah, i got the merch e-mail. i read less irony into that than i did into the tv appearance, though the timing was a little less than tactful.
