Petition : "Prince : your unreleased material interests us"

I have just created an online petition. It doesn't hurt to try and to let Prince officials how much we want his material.

Text of the petition :

To: Prince, NPG Music Club, and all other Prince officials
This petition is for the NPG Music Club, Prince, and all the people working around Prince.

Throughout his career, Prince has recorded hundreds of songs in various studios. It is also known all of his concerts have been recorded. This petition is to show that the Prince community desires to listen to all the material that Prince keeps locked in his vault. This includes:

- all the studio tracks that have never been released on any albums,
- the uncut versions of the songs that have been released,
- the video footages of live concerts and aftershows.

It covers especially the eras of the For You album, Prince, Controversy, 1999, Purple Rain, Around the world in a day, Parade, Sign ‘ O ‘ The Times, Lovesexy, Diamonds and pearls, and all the others …

The Prince fan base community wants hard to listen to those recordings. We are interested in this material and we will pay for it. We love Prince’s music and we support it.

To Prince : Now that you have gained your freedom, can you release your work please ? We love you, we support you, and we will pay for your old material.

The Prince Community

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

I have also started a topic at the NPGMC and it is still 'up and running', unlocked and not deleted.

If you reply in the NPGMC topic, you will let other members know you are interested in the unreleased material. If you don't say what you feel and what you think, others won't guess, others won't know because they can't guess what is in your mind ...

The link to the topic in the "U tell us" is http://www.npgmusicclub.c...p?t=140413 .

By replying, you will show that you (a NPGMC member) are interested. Let mods see you, let the officials read you, and it will be worth the post.

No need to write a page, a simple line like "I am interested in the old unreleased material and I have signed the petition" is enough.

Thank you for reading me and thank you for your support.

Your word counts !

The idea of the petition is to create a unity among the prince fans to show that there are many fans who desire to hear and watch this material.

Small story : some people prefer to pm me to say how useless it might to sign this petition and that for this only reason they won't sign. But they want it ... What is amazing is the time it takes to pm me is time it would took them to sign AND to post a line on the NPGMC forum.

This is just to say that even if you think it is useless, it is surely woth it to take 3 minutes (it doesn't take more than 3 minutes of your precious time) to sign the petition and post a line over on the NPGMC forum.

I do believe many people are interested in the unreleased material.

Thanks for supporting this action.

Prince could make sooooo much money by releasing vault stuff over the
NPGMC though , its a no-brainer .
Oh, and some of the initial replies to that petition thread on the NPGMC
are scary as hell , no wonder I spend so little time over there , Prince has
got his forums well drilled now , theyre like little robots mimicking him , spooky.

Seems futile. I doubt this will tell Prince anything he doesn't already know. But whatever good luck, I guess..

Ok, let us put it that way ...

If you think the petition is shit because you don't like my words or the approach, you will still have the opportunity to reply in the npgmc topic something like

"I don't like the idea of the petition but I would be interested in hearing/seeing some more material".

That way, you don't support the idea of the petition but you reveal you would like some more live material. That makes sense to me.

Less then two months after Prince has released a new cd
& you are petitioning for more music.
And people wonder why Prince doesn't listen to his fans more often.

if he laid all his cards on the table and was honest about who he really is

he'd go broke

and end up living a humble life like all people who are concerned about greater things than just themselves

i agree with you about his website .

I am quite content with what he puts out officially.

I have quite a lot of the bootleg stuff, and though there is occasionaly a gem to be found, there is - reasonably considering his output - quite a lot of mediocre stuff that I am really not interested to hear.

A new Prince CD every year or so is sufficient for me. Some cool - new - b-sides and extended versions would be great though.

Anyway, I think Prince will never release the vault stuff - he does not need the money, and the songs being locked away contribute to his myth.

And quite pathetic. Nothing's worse than the fans who actually think stuff like this helps.

I thought it was Prince fan site. I mean a site where there are people who like his music. Maybe, many members here don't care about the music.

I find very sad to pretend to be a 'fan', come on message boards like here, and say people who want more music are pathetic.... just because people who like his music enjoy it and are always interest in more, it is a natural feeling. That is why many more fans should support an action, not because they agree but because that respect that someone dares ask for more.

Please, don't hit fans in the back by pretending it is pathetic. What is really pathetic is to deny that you don't want more music. Because people shout 'it is to ask Prince' and then go after bootleg recordings ... Be honest with yourself.

Peace.

Noone's calling the people who want more music pathetic. Just the idea that a petition will make any difference.

Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't Prince already asked fans a few years back what they'd like releasing for Crystal Ball II?

It didn't happen.

for the longest time, i dreamt he'd free the A+ songs out of the vault in great quality, but i'm quite apathetic and jaded with it all, he'll do what he sees fit and that's fair enough.

His art, his choice.

As he wrote recently, "Stop giving me your wishing lists" wink
