The one obvious problem with this video, is that it's a performance video in a small stage setting. Therefore, it would've made sense 2 simply release the SNL performance as the video.

I like the recorded version, and would rather see a creative video with a story line. Maybe like with a furious woman burning up his clothes, smashing up his ride... well... maybe not the ride...

Peace.

I never saw the million days video. Where did you all see that one? Dag, how did I miss that? Well, in all honestly, I was let down by this video. Something more modern and sleek is more befitting this jam. It's too dark and the story is confusing. He could do much better, they need to trash this one and start over. Black Sweat and Te Amo both looked great. He needs to keep the momentum going with another high quality video. This ain't it.

On a side note, why do you all think it is directed at Mani? I thought all was well with those two.

The A Million Days video was never released, though it was made and a photo from the video, of Prince in a studio setting, was posted, I think by the director...

There are now 2 versions of the Fury video - one with the performance and storyline of the woman, the second (available in the cyberclips room of the npgmc) uses the performance footage only.

As for Mani, well no one really knows what's going on, but she hasn't been seen for a loooong time now, not even at the recent party at his house, so speculation is growing that they have seperated. With that in mind, and the initial Fury storyline of a woman getting fed up of waiting for Prince who is in the studio all the time, people have begun to believe the lyrics might be aimed at Mani.

Metalorange, thanks for clearing things up for me. I was confused. I think any woman who is in a relationship with Prince needs to understand that she will not be number one or possibly even number two. Also, he's a Gemini - and as a fellow Gemini I know that it's not easy to hold our attention.

And how on earth do you know that for sure?..are you Prince or something?

Why don't you stop assuming and let Prince get on with his personal life..isn't the music enough for you?

But if P wants people to stop discussing his personal life it's not so very smart to make a video like Fury.

I'm not obsessed. But you gotta admit, if you want people to stop talking you don't make a video like that. Even if it's just a "story", it'll make people talk and wonder. And I'm pretty sure he knows that. It's not like he's new in the business.

Exactly, just like that Cry Me A River video by Justin Timberlake is not about Britney at all...

I can't beleive how many of us in the USA are surprised by the fact that Prince and his record company have chosen to release this video first in Germany. I visited Germany for the first time last November so let me break it down to you my brothers and sisters in the USA>

Germany is about the size of the state of Minnesota yet has a poplulation of 50 million people. That means that it takes far less money to promote and you reach an audience about the size of 1/5 that of the USA.

Now here is the big kicker. In Germany people still buy a lot of pop music. A lot! Pop artist such as Robbie Williams who cannot get arrested in the US, are huge in Germany and all of Europe for that matter. Here in America it takes a lot of promotion to sell Pop these days. you have to be on TV a lot..remember Musicaology. Plus the worse part is many kids are more than satisfied just downloading stuff. I read recently that downloading hasn't made a big dent in record sales in Germany the way they have in the USA.

Also today in USA,.lets face it: Hip-hop rules. For relatively little money on a rap record and its promotion you can sell huge numbers.

So there you have it folks, Europe is becomming more and more the marketplace of choice for Pop,Just as a it has for Jazz and several other art-forms which originated in America. Just a "sign O the Times".

PS. Big shout-out to German Prince fams! You have a lovely country. I wish I could be there for the World Cup! But I will come again after the tourist and soccer holigans have left!!!

I´m from germany.Thank U for your compliments.
Our population is 82 million people actually and you`re right, pop music is very popular here. But we also listen to hip hop and in clubs electronic music is very popular.Big difference to the states, i think.

Thanks for the correction Linus4000. 82 million people..proves my point on that score even more. Yes I know hip hop and electronic is big too. When I was there, they were playing 50Cents "Window Shopper" every 15 minutes it seemed like.
I was wrong also about the downloading not being a problem. Seems like there were some recent raids on emule users in and around Cologne. Ouch!
