Wow, are u on the rag or what? Need some midol? Okay, You proved your point..Go ahead and be "angry" about a quote by a woman who is very honored and respected around the entire globe. In fact when I run into Nikki, cuz we float in the same circles, I'll get some clarification on what she was trying to say, which I'm sure you are completely overreacting to.

This is funny...You are a self proclaimed "ridiculer" of Prince, but this woman in your opinion can't speak her mind??? Wow the org is full of all types isn't it??? Oh and by the way...Do u think Prince would approve of your language..My God, as my niece would say "You got a potty mouth" LOL...I'm done for the night, A wise man once said, if u argue with a "lie" u become the lie. I'll leave u to your illusions...Peace, Love and Prince...

rolleyes She can say all the bad shit about Prince she wants!

MY opinion just HAPPENS 2 b that she did it in the wrong place, that's all.

Perhaps it was an overreaction because words on a screen appear more lifeless and cruel than if I were 2 rant about it 2 u in person.

Fact of the matter is..I really don't care if ur in her circle. Niether do I care if she's world renowned. I'm not asking them 2 stop the presses on the book, I'm simply showing this 2 other Prince fans.

So if u'd kindly stop with the poet-elitist bullshit, it'd b greatly appreciated.

P.S. The rag comment REALLY isn't cool.

U must not know me very well..is all I have 2 say! Just ask some folks around here what I think of Prince...I'm sure they'll tell u---he's been subject 2 my ridicule as well.

But I do it in an internet forum...NOT in a fucking poetry book dedicated 2 the memory of a rapper. Sorry, that's the truth.

you need a hug...here (((nep)))...

..

redface Thanx.

U know I ain't usually defensive of Prince it's just...I was reading all this nice memory shit about 2pac (who I have a hard time understanding in the FIRST place) and she's going 2 sit up there on her high horse and inject some resentful Prince shit in2 it? Ok...let me go take an Advil cuz I'm really not feelin' that!

You don't feel Pac Neppy? He's a complicated man and probably isn't too consistent with his emotions...one song he's a thug, the next he's sayin' "Keep yo' head up"...but he was one hell of a poet and rapper. Pac sampled Prince quite a bit...I would hasten to guess that Prince thinks fondly of Pac too.

Nep2nes,

What a very adult and intelligent way to respond to something. You should be proud of yourself. Idiot. If you knew anything about her, you would know she has been a prince fan for a very long time. The forward is her opinion, and only her opinion. calling here a BITCH isn't going to change that opinion. The problem with people today is that they have no basis to say some of the things they say. Did you do any research on her? I am quite sure you didn't. If you did, you would know she has been a long time supporter of Prince, but when he started writing the word "slave" on his face because of his record contract and changing his name to the symbol, that is when she started to criticize him. He VOULUNTARILY signed with Warner. As a matter of fact, when Purple Rain blew up, he signed a 100 Million dollar contract with them. Give me a break. Know what you are talking about before you speak. Oh yea, I am sure you will come back with, Makavelli, you don't know what you are talking about and so forth. Learn how to argue a point and have the facts to back it up, because you don't.

(EDITED because I'll actually waste my time and dispute ur point):

I know the circumstances behind Prince and the contract and Prince was WRONG 4 going back and complaining about something he had a choice in.

I think it's even more immature 4 supposedly famous people 2 go out there and publically say that prince is a whiner Prince is this, Prince is that...SHUT UP! As someone who is in public (since I'm assuming she isn't a hermit) u would think she would...I dunno...I just think it sounded childish of her 2 say that in a book that's published and sold all around the world.

But it is interesting that she is that old and liking Prince...however from how she said it, it sounded as if she had no clue what it was REALLY about-she just didn't like him cuz he wasn't a "beautiful boy" anymore...AWWW LAWD.

No, I'm not feelin' HER!!!

It was funny because any1 who's ever read that book can tell that there was a period in his teenage years where he was in2 Prince because some of the poems were spelled with a "2" "4" etc...and the kicker is that he actually drew an eye for the "I". lol

Anyway...I don't like mixed messages...maybe that's one reason y I don't listen 2 rap ..(anymore, used 2 tho')

Nikki G did not diss Prince, She was just saying that someone or something blocked up his creativity, and got his mind off of his music and put it on something else, I have met Miss G. She is a great poet and speaker, she travels the world fighting for the sanity of our children, Most people don't agree with prince's stand against WB. Well I applaud his convictions, because he put his career on the line for his beliefs, He is not talked about because of his tactics, but now other artist are paying attention to what he was saying, I think he is now free because of his stance. And because he is free, the music becomes free. I love Niiki G. and I love Prince, haven't paid much attention to tupac, But hear that he was a good writer as well.
How you gonna get my back when you fronting.

OH my goodness...Nikki Giovanni, as music man said, is one the the great poets (black or white). I just saw her speak just yesterday here in Indiana.

Please before the dissing of Nikki begins, please know who she is first.

And as far as Pac is concerned, we are on a Prince fansite and some of you claim you don't understand the complexicities of Pac. HELLO...Prince is complex like a mofo. We all have two sides...huh remember that.

But too hardened for a smile, way too crazy to be humble"

It sounds to me as if Nikki Giovanni was condemning more the CIRCUMSTANCES that she thinks transformed Prince from a passionate artist to a "whiner", rather than a condemnation of the man himself. While this comment seems to carry some criticism of the man himself, her wording seemed careful enough to be more than just a simple dis, a la Boy George's "doily dipped in pubic hair" comment.

And for anyone who has an interest in Tupac and Prince, yet has no clue who Nikki Giovanni is, I would suggest hitting up the ol' Google and doing a little bit of research. You may not like her now, and after learning who she is, you may STILL not like her, but I guarantee you that you'll be doing your cultural literacy a big favor. While you're at it, make sure you know the names Gwendolyn Brooks, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, Sparrow, and all the other names you'll stumble across while researching these women...

- That´s why the art level is so low. Because people dont try to be serious in what they do. Just because a person writes a silly rhyme or sings a melody, it doesnt make him/her a poet or singer. To be a good artist, you have to combine talent, hard work, style and inspiration. And it´s not easy.

I kid u not, it actually says that! Comments?
