I have to give it up to Turn it UP for making me laugh with the LaQuita comment. That WUZ funny but bruh, you are full of yourself and your comments are incorrect!

In my humble opinion and that's all we have with regards the "secret life of Prince and Tamar" is that they are working together. He sees something in her that no one else sees and he wants to promote her. If you remember he had Alicia Keys at a celebration before the won 5 Grammys and he had Nora Jones at another celebration before she won a truck load of Grammys. So maybe he thought he would introduce another star to the world but get a little "cha ching" in the deal. About the twins... they don't have enough talent to stand on their own so it would be best that they back up Tamar.

Tamar is married and Prince is married so for all you married folks that read this post the BEST thing you can do is pray for them. Keep the rumors of infidelity (i can't spell) out of your mouth. That's all I have to say about that for now. (where's my box of chocolate)

Dearlybeloved is it true? Tamar is married? I never even thought about her even having a boyfriend. I personally don't think I'm incorrect, but that's what the tread are all about agree to disagree, but I'm with you on this about keeping the infidelity out of your mouth even though I never thought there was any going on and by the way I'm glad I made you laugh with LaQuita. biggrin lol

It must be your mission to let the world know that Prince doesn't like 100% black women romantically. What's funny as hell is that it upsets you when anyone suggest that Prince may be romantically linked to Tamar. Unless you follow the man around 24/7, it is just your opinion just like everyone else.

I really think that as Black women, you are upset that P may be color-struck. P ain't the first brother to be like that, and he definitely won't be the last. Get over it.

Look I been a fan of Prince since I was 12 and over the years know what his preference is and that's fine. The reason I keep mumbling on and on and on is not because I'm upset, but because folks need to get on with the BS, Prince fans like me over the years knows what type of women he links himself to, don't try to act like just because Tamar is his latest protege that there's nothing romantic goin' on knowin' what his preference is and unless you're following him around 24/7 how do you know whether or not he's messing around with anybody?

Men and women can be good friends without sex, but folks that nothing but nothin' but f**k buddies wouldn't know that. If he married Tamar or somebody like Tamar the second after Mayte that would've shut me up completely, but he married a Vanity clone that is of foreign background with a foreign name.
PC I'm just being a realist and not of the bulls**t.

Your passion about this subject is mind-boggling and laughable. lol

I personally think she has been good for Prince and his music. Lets face it the songs that he has made of late have not been that good. But seems like since he has teamed up with her his songs sound fresh and up-to-date. I think she is a positive vibe for him, not to mention that I reallly like the sound of her voice. But that's just my opinion...

I think Beautiful, loved and blessed is one hell of a great song. biggrin

Must say though, sounds a lot more like it's about spirituality than carnal love...

true, that.

i was just thinking of some of the typical JW terminology in the song... the bit about "plant the seed" reminds me of a scripture we often read in Matthew abou the seed that falls on different kinds of soil, and the fruitage it produces... for example.

i'm inclined to think there's a spiritual & artistic link of some kind between the two, and that's about as far as it goes.

Thank you Jaarod86. TurnItUp clearly doesn't know what they're talking about.
Read up on your Prince history TurnItUp, you'd be surprised what you find. The song "Private Joy" was about Susan. He knew her since high school and they started dating after the Dirty Mind tour, but as with all his women, Susan struggled with the fact Prince was not a one woman man (Jill Jones and Vanity among those who entered the picture during his time with Susan).

I love people who make comments as fact with nothing to back them up. Try again TurnItUp.

MikeA

I ain't gotta read up on nothin' cuz I done read on stuff over the years and I never read nothing about Susan and Prince ever until the Possessed book and that book was full of sh*t and so are you by the way because I see you ain't got nothin' to back it up because I have yet to see a comment where Prince or Susan was quoted as saying they were a couple and as I stated before in another recent tread how are you gonna be my man and let some other bitch take her the leader of the group and throw me to side to talk through songs instead of SINGING and then she become your main lady. Vanity was his lady not not Susan.

Prove me wrong by showing a quote from him or her, but especially him.

There is no need to be dreaming. Maybe they are not a couple. Maybe they are. All I am saying is yes maybe fifteen years ago Prince might not have been interested in a woman like Tamar...but people grow and change...maybe his views on black women have changed...maybe not...at first glance she doesn't look like his type...but do we always fall for someone who is our type? I'm just trying to remain objective about this. All I'm saying is I am very amazed at how much he has done for her already. He seems to have as much faith in her talents as he did Mayte. Which just makes you wonder...why? shrug

But who know...maybe it is like a father/daughter like relationship. lol Papa Prince. razz

the father/daughter relationship is the only thing you said that was accurate.
With Mayte he definitely was liking her like no daughter and he would play and flirt with her on stage and the only faith he had in her was her dancing and to somebody get in her panties. It is not the same with Tamar.

I can see from your attitude that nothing will convince you of the idea that Prince has dated black women (what about Nona Gaye I ask again?) or that Prince even dated Susan Moonsie. If you think nothing of Possessed perhaps you will think more of Uptown's The Vault, though I doubt it:

During the summer of 1981, Prince also worked on material for The Hookers, a girl group he was planning... From the outset, the group inlcuded only Prince's personal assistant, Jamie Shoop, and his friend, Susan Moonsie....Moonsie was a longtime friend, whom Prince began dating in 1980/91. Prince had met her in high school and even spent some nights on her family's couch before the Anderson family took him in. When she emerged as Prince's principal romantic interest, his associates found her to be an intelligent and grounded person. She struggled, however, with a basic problem in the relationship; Prince's resistance to monogamy. Moonsie was caught between her affection for Prince and her unwillingness to facilitate his unfaithfulness.

I wasn't referring to that. Krystal's comment seemed to suggest that there in fact is a certain type of Black woman that P tries to steer clear of and that TurnItUp is one of them. She should not have gone there. confused

I know this is a fansite and all, but it really is kinda pathetic to read the fanatical superimpositions that some people overlay on Prince's life. Some people just have to believe that their version is THE version, even though it might have absolutely no basis in reality whatsoever.

Why speculate about his private life and automatically suppose the worst about his (and/or Tamar's) marriage? Prince is intelligent enough to navigate his business while letting you know only what he wants you to know about his life. Um, like any of us.

I'm going to wish him and Tamar the best. No, I don't think Tamar has the greatest voice either, but my opinion might also be influenced by the fact that she's being ushered into popularity at a time when Prince is older and more conservative. Still, I say "Girl, work your beat." I hope she can take full advantage of the spotlight.

Why speculate? Because his romantic life exudes into his music. If you want to understand his music more deeply, you often have to look at what was happening in his life at that moment. I don't wish Prince the worst; it's more a case of examining the evidence realistically and seeing what it points at.

Certainly Prince tries to ration what we learn about him, but again, if you are interested in understanding his music on a deeper level than the superficial, you often have to dig deeper and learn more than he'd rather us do.

He didn't marry Kim, but what about Susannah? Granted, he didn't marry her either...but he almost did, and he was definitely very much in love with her.
